We were in the same boat as you a couple years ago. We special ordered our Winnebago to the exact spec's that we wanted, with the exception of the couch.
We negotiated our price from msrp which Winnebago sent to us via a built sheet. We then purchased a theater seat recliner set up, and gave the old couch to our daughter for her home office. We are very happy with our decision to get what we wanted even if we had to wait.

"harvnlois"...….First off, when you special order, the dealer doesn't have to put his own money out to order and place the vehicle on the lot, so they're saving money. The 25% -30% off is the standard percentage every RV dealer will give off of MSRP. If you can find a coach that CAN be ordered the way you want it, go ahead, make your deal and order it.

I saw your list of brands, but did not see Newmar on your list. Just so you know, you can pretty much custom order a Newmar coach. Newmar will let you change just about anything within reason. We just custom ordered ours. To change the exterior paint to the colors we wanted was $1200.00. We changed interior cabinet design, selected from five dinette styles, added windows, changed sliding doors in the bedroom and added wiring I wanted in the wet bay. Yes, they charge you for these upgrades, but they were very reasonable.

You can pick the seating out of any Newmar model and if it will fit in the coach you want, they'll install it.

You asked about the "CHF" in my note about my RV. No matter what brand coach you select, if it is on a F53 Ford chassis, there is a bit of a sway issue that most everyone complains about. Search the forum for CHF or "Cheap Handling Fix" and study up on how moving the factory sway bars over to another pre-existing hole on the frame firms up everything just fine and costs only the time to do it. That is why they call it the cheap fix...no parts to buy. My mechanic did it for free since he was under the coach anyway on an unrelated issue. Otherwise, he said it would have been $50. Saved me the trouble and he has better tools than me. Continued luck with your search and report back to let us know what you finally end up with.

If you have the time it will not cost you anymore. You should get a better price. Do some looking on the web and you can find the actual cost for the dealer on most rvs. The typical mark up goes like this

$100k to build
$200k cost to dealer
$300 k msrp. Price

Reason getting a 30% discount is not unrealistic. Only you can decide what a reasonable profit is for a dealer selling one rig, and never having to put a his money upfront. All dealers have overhead costs but on the above example the dealer makes $10k. Is that enough?

Enjoy the journey

Add this little tidbit.

The dealer will routinely FAKE THE MSRP on the printed sales sheet. They do this to show a huge discount that is actually higher than the actual price they will sell for. Do some research and find the real MSRP from the manufacturer and then deduct 30% minimum.

Thanks everyone! Love all this feedback!

But...I have done some searching online for MSRP and Dealer Cost, but have been unable to find those for anything newer than 2018. Can anyone give me a site or two where I can find those for 2019 and even 2020 models?

Again, thanks for all the feedback.
Another question based on some of the comments.
I have, since reading the comments, done some online searching for motorhome msrp/dealer costs, and have not found any place that actually gives them for anything newer than 2018. Does anyone know of any specific sites that provide 2019 and and 2020 msrp/dealer costs?
