Buy/Selling a RV?

Does anyone care to mention where they look for RV's for sale?

We have a classified section here. If you google RV's for sale you'll get the websites of all the players.

craigslist, online dealers, etc. I spent about 9 months searching until I found our current rig. Look at tons of RV's before finding the one.

When it comes time, I'll start w/the dealer I bought my Bounder from. Loyalty (sometimes) gets you better pricing & service after the sale. After that it's up for grabs who gets my $$. Research here & on the www to be well armed for negotiations.

Spent six months looking at MHs mostly on craigslist and some local dealers. Came across a couple shady deals on craigslist. Finally found one we liked for the price at a dealer on consignment. Still am a fan of craigslist though.

We now have several online sites that cater to RV's:
Main Index - RV & Motorhome Classifieds
RVs For Sale On RV Trader® - New and Used Fleetwood,Airstream,Winnebago,Keystone,Forest River,Newmar RVs and More-RVTrader.com
Search New and Used Travel Trailers, Motorhomes, Campers, For Sale and More | RVT.com
New & used cars, trucks, motorcycles, parts, accessories
Marketplace in North Branch
RVs for Sale, Used RV at RV Online® , Used Motorhomes, RVs, Fifth Wheels, Travel Trailers, Used Campers, and Used RVs
Class A Motorhomes for Sale - PPL Motor Homes

Another helpful web site is: RV Prices, RV Reviews, RV Values, Camper & Trailer Specs, Motorhome Value | NADAguides | NADA RV, Recreational Vehicle Price & Appraisal Guides | NADAguides

Watch out, pricing is all over the place. I've seen as much as $100k difference in the same year/make/model. Learn to do nationwide searches and rank by price. This will give you a feel for high and low price range. As someone else mentioned, there are several scams out there. Be careful. Do not pay for anything site unseen.

Watch out for Craigslist!! I advertised a 5er on there and almost every day received one or more scam e-mails. Craigslist warns you about this so please read it and pay attention!

They all read about the same. "I want to buy your RV and will pay the advertised price, but due to my work I will send a representative with a cashiers check to pick it up, etc, etc, etc." If I had not read Craigslist's warnings I would have thought "what could be safer than a cashier's check?". DON'T BE FOOLED! Somehow they forge the cashiers checks! I always replied to the e-mail with the statement "I can only accept a direct transfer of funds between your bank and mine." That always ended it!

I would definitely use the classifieds here on IRV2! I also advertised on RVTrader.com.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

We found ours through an ad in the classified section of our local newspaper. The owners lived about 25 miles away and were the original owners of the motor home.

They were asking quite a bit less than NADA and were willing to wait while I organised the funding and made a wire transfer from our Credit Union to theirs (a couple of days).

The seller said I was the first potential buyer that had any idea of how to drive it. When I said I'd been a transit bus driver for a couple of years, he understood why.

I just bought one on craigslist. I looked on ebay, IRV2, RVT.com, camping world just about every day until this one showed up. Wasn't in my local craigslist so you need to branch out a little.

I sold my last coach via Craigslist.
Found my current coach via RVT.com, if I recall correctly.
