Buying a new RV without a dealer

Is there any way to buy a new RV without talking to a salesman? I can't stand those guys. I wish you could buy direct from the manufacturer but I know they won't do that. There must be a way to buy a new RV without having to deal with your average dealership. Maybe just paying a dealer to handle the tax, title and license?

We bought our 5th wheel directly from the manufacturer but alas they are no longer building RVs.

Even buying direct.... You will still be dealing with a sales person

Some salespeople are better then others.....

You could probably do everything via emails.....

If you are in TX there is at least one dealer who don't have the typical sales force but who prices much like Car Max does for used cars, take it or leave it. That is Athens RV, east of Athens and I have been told that Bennette RV in Granbury is that way also. In addition, Casita in TX and Lazy Days in CA both sell only at the factory with a listed price, no negotiation.

Some other factory direct sellers:
Rexhall sells their motorhomes factory-direct.
New Horizons is a factory-direct 5W manufacturer.
Born Free for a Class B.

Or buy on the used market from a private seller. Loads of those available, and usually better financially than buying new.

I would think that you would rather go through a dealer. There will be warranty issues on a new rig. Most dealers won't handle warranty work unless you purchase from them

A dealer must do warranty work. They cannot refuse to do warranty work if they did they would lose their franchise.

Not true from my understanding. There are many posts here that describe the issue. If they don't sell that particular unit to you, they may not do warranty work. Just a fact

No problem sir, bring it in and drop it off on 4-26-2016
Your reply: That is over 4 months from now
Then if you do wait, after 3 months of calling them to see when it might be done

From previous posts I have heard of people buying from a dealer in Indiana which is just a few miles from the Newmar Factory.....they handled the entire transaction by phone, email and Internet - got factory delivery, and NEVER even set foot on the dealer lot. The benefit to the dealer is they make a small profit by just handling the paperwork, and so are willing to work on razor thin profit, because they don't have to even see the RV you purchase!

So if you are a full-timer across the country from where you bought, are you just screwed on the warranty?

There are many posts on this site about people in that situation. If a dealer agrees to help in that situation they will likely schedule months out and make it a low priority. I think it is a horrible trait in the RV industry that could be remedied.
