I think under the circumstances you describe, the dealer has every right as an independent business man to refuse service. I can recall doing the same thing in a couple of instances when I was in the automotive repair business. Even a franchised dealer doesn't have to put up with real AH customers, and evidently in this case the manufacturer agreed.

We spend a lot of time on the road, well away from our home base, so when we needed warranty work (this was few years back), it was almost always somewhere other than the dealer we bough from. Never had a problem - in fact we even got put on the top of the list once because we were traveling and living in the coach, while the other customers lived nearby and had dropped off their rig for repairs.

Take your deal on paper, to your local dealer. Tell him out of courtesy for his local business, he has one more chance to make the deal. Times are hard, & business is slow in the RV World.

He might change his mind, you have nothing to loose!

An acquaintance of mine bought a new Beaver MH. He took it back to the dealer for some warranty work. They started the work but my acquaintance, who is somewhat of an AH, was in their face constantly demanding things. After one day they told him to take it elsewhere. He called the manufacturer and complained, they told him it was up to the dealer and they could nothing.

Maybe your acquaintance needs a slice of humble pie. Most people don't feel the need to put up with that kind of attitude. I can't blame the dealer. I treat the guys that work on my motorhome like gold, and they treat me the same.
