Campground Dilemma In Nekoosa, WI

I made reservations in March at Deer Trail Campground in Nekoosa, WI for July 27 through Aug 3 for a Vietnam unit reunion in the area.
A month ago, one of my army buddies who lives in nearby Friendship offered his property for the 3 of us who are RVing for the reunion. He even had 20 amp circuits installed for us.
I had paid in advance for the campground and when I called, they said no refunds, only credit good for a year and reminded me that was stated when I made the reservation. Yes, it was dumb to think plans would not change and pay the entire amount rather than just a deposit.
I would much rather stay at the friend's property with the others, but having a hard time eating $175 for the week. Does anyone have a suggestions for possibly selling the week or the credit?

Post to the Vets group going to the gathering. You might get somebody who did not make reservations.

Thanks, but most are staying at a hotel, and those camping have the army buddy's property to use. It was suggested I could make a sign and stand outside the campground on check-in day offering a discount. That would be great on Friday or Saturday, but most check out on Sunday. But I could catch somebody coming for a week without reservations.
The reunion runs Wednesday through Sunday so I could stay at the campground Monday-Tuesday, move to buddy's property on Wednesday, then return to the campground on Sunday for the last night. By paying for a week, I did get one free day so 3 out of 6 might be the best I can hope for.
The ultimate would be someone seeing this post and saying they want the week if they get a deal. We can all dream.

You could also post the week space in our classified forum. If you do not get a buyer by the time you need to cancel and take the credit for a year; do so and then if you do not use it, you could sell it. Good luck and keep us posted.

I would look at it this way........

The money is gone......
Your buddy is giving you a free-bee, your out nothing additional, and your with your friends.

I've reached that conclusion myself. Thanks!
