Can you explain how you're out $208.00. There rates seem to be about $40.00 a night. If you cancelled on the 20th, you should have received the all but 2 nights payment back.

Did you wait until after the dates of your trip to ask for a refund?

That's why we seldom make reservations. Never know when breakdown on the way, or other emergencies. Did make reservations for Disney

Reservations are a drag.

We stayed at a nice campground in Bar Harbor this summer-No reservations-just show up , and, bring cash-no check-no credit cards.

Campground owners/managers are a self-serving bunch-working on a not-too-big margin, they cannot afford benevolence

I fully understand a no cancellation policy. With that said, if I call in and cancel, and you don't allow a refund, you shouldn't rent my space to someone else who pulls in a couple hours later. I would expect a cancellation fee, and / or a partial refund, when that happens.

But, I am the guy who goes back in to Wal-Mart and pays for something if the checker missed it. Or if I realize they made a mistake giving change, and gave me too much back.

Many campgrounds will make allowances for medical emergencies.

However some.. The rules are iron clad..

And yes, letting them know you won't be re-booking is about your only option.

This is one of many reasons I don't make reservations most of the time. We've driven in early during the day and never been refused. We if couldn't stay, just move on.
Other reasons: Bad facility, bad location (ie. tracks, trucks, planes), less than intelligent clientel, bad weather, small spaces or too tight, high prices.
