Hey Overlander,
The song "Truckin" was done by the Greatfull Dead! We listen to just about everthing when we camp, Country, Rock & Roll, Bluegrass, Jazz & even Big Band. Just no Rap or Hip Hop!!!

Karen likes older stuff, like everly brothers and the nitty gritty dirt band.Me I like older metal and love Blues.Led Zep ,Black Sabbath,ZZ top ,Clapton, AC-DC.
When the kids start messing with the radio, thets when we get nervous with the rap and be bop music
I try to stay current with my music, but I just dont get that kind of music. But we try to be fair
Every time they help with things around camp ,like lug wood and help set up chairs we let them listen for awhile ,guess what? that doesnt happen all that often.

Was a radio disc jockey and news reader for 12 years working Country, Rock, Easy listening, Pop and adult contemporary formats. I have enjoyed all types of music but today I most enjoy my daughters laugh, crackling fires, good conversation, soft wind, thunderstorms, a dead quiet night in a CG. I admit to the quick blast of Genisis, Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, Don Henley, ...but only at home w/the surround system exersizing the sub. My girl is actually getting me back into music somewhat as she discovers disco (hey...it really wasn't that bad)Rap?....I like to keep my pants ABOVE my ...well you know. I'm not getting older ...I'm getting quieter.

Cheers,
Paul

My preference is C&W (not much of the current stuff), Blue Grass and oldies from the 50's and 60's. But when camping, I like good old silence...birds and trees russeling.

I have followed the Grateful Dead since i happened to see them at a free concert in GoldenGate Park in '70. Sadly enough, i was also in Marin the day Jerry died. His true love was pickin' banjos, oddly enough.
Here is the saddest thing i have ever typed: My trailer was broken into a couple months ago, and they left my LARGE amount of tools and stole a box that contained about 100 storebought Grateful Dead cd's and dvd's (and a 13" B/W tv). there went many years of collecting.

and Dwight ...

i ordinarily don't listen to Country, but i believe i may have to try and find that album.!!

There was recently a special on PBS with Jerry garcia and another band member playing blue grass. Jerry was an exceptionally indivudual with a great musical talent.

That might have been David Grisman playing bluegrass with him.
Garcia sometimes appeared to be almost a reluctant rockn'Roller, unfortunately some of his personal 'problems' didn't appear to be so relunctant.
