Camping world of Bath & Rochester NY closed

Received the official letter from CW that their Bath store is now closed. Tried the web site for Rochester and was diverted to Syracuse. It looks like the split we were told about in August finally happened. I will post more when I find out. It will be interesting to see if they remain open as Meyers.

Keep us posted. No change that I have seen yet in the Hamburg store.

Camping world of Bath & Rochester NY closed

I was in Rochester the other day , CW signs were coming down and Myers RV Super Center banner was hung on the building. Folks were packing up the retail store. I understand Buffalo and Syracuse are company owned and the former franchisee got Bath and Rochester. Maybe the can afford to fix the parking lot at Bath it's terrible!

As a side note Wilkins next door in Rochester (Chili) is putting in a huge expansion.

I went to Wilkins when I was shopping around for a used diesel. They were friendly enough but not really willing to deal on anything. After attending a few shows and also visiting as many CW stores, they always came up with what I thought was a fairly decent price/discount.

Myers RV sold these NY store locations to Camping World about 10 years ago. They also had a location in Hamburg, NY.

I do not think they sold them as the Meyers name never totally went away. I think they did the franchise route with CW and are now separating.

At one point Meyers was building up to being the biggest dealer in the NE. I really wonder if they sold off some of those locations to CW or are maintaining some franchises while dropping some others. There is information in another thread that leads me to think Buffalo was sold off if it was part of Meyers.

The Camping World website still lists Hamburg as a location. When I was in there a few weeks ago, there was a sign that said under new management and that their hours would be changing so I have no idea what is going on with any of the Upstate NY Camping World stores.

Meyers is now running ads on Rochester Television and the web site is up and running as:

Home Page - Meyer's RV Superstores

It looks like Meyers dumped their CW association, kept Thor and added Forest River. They were Meyers before they were CW.

I've checked the website several times. Very poorly done. They were telling folks who signed up for VIP status they would receive a discount coupon. Haven't seen it yet. Maybe sticking with CW would have been a better option if that's the best they can do. Check it out, the first thing that comes up on the site is a junker A. Why waste your initial impression on selling used junk?

Considering it is their latest trade in I would assume it encourages folks who need a new rig. ;-)

Given CW's reputation I do not think they hurt themselves. What they did do is pull themselves out of the CW extended warranty loop. I am not sure how that will work out. Given the complaints about that they may work themselves into selling a better one. We can only hope. ;-)
