We've revamped our trip plans to AZ, staying at state parks and Gilbert Ray in Tucson. Probably a night or two at a "resort" to see what that's like. Really wanted to see Saguaro National Park and Organ Pipe NP, but if not this time, we'll catch them next time.
Got a few nights reserved at Catalina State Park in Tucson, I hear it's quite nice.

Private parks are probably going to experience a little boost during the shutdown game. Like already mentioned, Wal-Marts too. Just got word from RVing friends that free federal boondocking places are being policed now and RVers are being booted.

So we wait, and make alternate plans. Us RVers are survivors. We can make do and have fun even in the face of adversity.

You can still drive through Saguaro National Park in your car and enjoy the scenery. Shame the visitor's center is closed- They have a great show there about the saguaro and the area. If you're at Gilbert Ray you're right there. You should spend a day at the Saguaro Desert Museum. It's one of Tucson's gems. Pick a day that's a little cool, wear comfortable shoes, hat/sunscreen and drink plenty of water.

You probably love Catalina State Park. It's very scenic and very well run. If you like to hike and are in pretty good shape take the trail up to Romero Pools. It's a bit strenuous but if there has been rain the falls will be running.

Spend an evening or 2 walking downtown - There's lots going on and weekend nights are great fun
