Can pleated window shades be cleaned?
Has anyone successfully cleaned the pleated fabric window shades? If so, how? Full timing with a monkey is not without occasional messes and 2 shades have food spots on them.

After cursing our pleated shades for a while, I cleaned ours by removing them to the garbage bin and installing new MCD shades. The MCDs are easy to clean and 1000 times better than the old pleated. Some of the best money we ever spent on our coach.
Not saying MCD is the best as there are other options out there but anything beats the pleated.

Before we installed MCD shades throughout the coach we did clean the pleated shades once.
We put them in the shower and sprayed then generously with Scrubbing Bubbles and let them soak for a couple of hours, then rinsed them with the shower wand. Took them outside and let them dry overnight on a picnic table partially collapsed so as to preserve the pleats. They looked much better after cleaning than before.

Charlie and Clay, you give me hope that they don't lose the pleats or disintegrate when cleaned. Our tiny abode only has 4. I'll also price MCds. Thanks!

Barb, there was a post on here recently about problems with support on MCD shades, and mention of an alternative brand. You might want to check that out!
I think I may have found it!

Hi Barb,
I replaced 6 large windows with UV pullcord shades. Maybe peek at DHSP?
