It can vary depending upon where you are. We filled our LP a couple of months ago in Acton, CA, for about $2.39/gallon. It really depends on the area; there's not a lot of competition in some areas, so to be honest, so it tends to be a demand-driven price.

From this site:

Cost of Propane | National Propane Prices

"The average residential propane price rose by less than a penny to just under $2.48 per gallon, 38 cents per gallon lower than the same period last year. Wholesale propane prices increased by a penny to $0.99 per gallon for the week ending February 4, 2013, 21 cents per gallon lower than the February 6, 2012 price."

Pretty nice markup on Propane, huh?

Filled up my 30 pound 7.2 gallons tank for 14 dollars and change just west of Yuma at a Shell Station along I8 which is in California but barely. The diesel was pricey at $4.55 but the propane is cheap.

Filled the propane tank a year and 8,000 miles ago, still on full. We use electric blanket, ceramic heaters or heat pump and induction cook top. Also don't stay in parks that have electric meters. Your choice .

We now have the answer to higher prices for LP. It's those hoarders like Hipshot creating an artificial shortage by storing a product he does not use or need.
There ought to be a law. :whi stling:

And according to This site, it hasn't budged from that price since.
Down here in Vancouver, WA it's around $2.499.

They're selling it by the liter in Winnipeg? That's really interesting!

I thought that propane could only be sold by weight in Canada, which to my way of thinking is the only honest way, it being so subject to volume changes according to the temperature...

Franchesca:
I don't know if you've noticed but here in WA thay can only sell using a temperature compensating pump. That way you get a consistant pressure and volume. They figure that's better than weight.
