Yes, no and maybe...
Some are better than others--they are a hassle to keep charged--good for using in big stores to find each other...
I haven't had much luck with them, but the ones I have are maybe 6 years old.

Agree with all previous posts. Have been Full Time 2 yrs now.
I always drive with CB on 19, scanning 13 & 9, the times we received road info it was most useful. Have had may chats with Drivers, all very enjoyable.
I also have the weather channel feature that scans for weather alerts.

By far the majority of my RV friends I have met, dislike the CB and find it useless.
So To Each Their Own.

Not much, but if you are in the back country with no cell service, it can be a lifesaver.
