csrrsr & Chuck1935, I concur, I too have tried from PA to SD & back to MD, I broke many times on 13, no answer, only occasional chatter from truckers off of 19 for private conversation. I did ask a few campgrounds if they monitored 13 no positive answers.
I would like to know if there is anyone within 20 miles of Solomon's MD, who would be willing to do a test break on 13 one evening? So that would be Salsbury MD, Colonial Beach VA, & Of Course St Mary's County.
If so please feel free to message me and we can set something up. If I can confirm I have some range I would monitor 13 here in Solomon's (Southern MD Rec Center Navy Base).
I feel if some of us keep trying while on the road, sooner or later we have got to be able to get some chat going. Yeah Sure!

We will be heading to Denver next month (I know, wrong direction this time of year) and it will give me a chance to monitor channel 13 there and back.

Good morning all. I would like to thank Craig for letting me ask this question on this thread that he started. As he has stated numerous times, he started the CB13 decal so that we coud be safer in our travels, and have more fun. I agree. So on to the more fun part. Most of us use a HANDLE (name) when on the air. The question: What is your handle? And if there is a story connected with your handle, share it with us.
My handle is HF. The story. Many years ago, probably at least 35/40 ago. We lived in a south suburb of St. Louis, called Mehlville. We had the morning paper delivered everyday. One Saturday morning I had gone out to get the paper and put it on the dining room table for the wife. I ate my breakfast and went outside. It was a nice warm morning in the early summer. I was in a T shirt and shorts and flip flops. The wife got up when I was outside, sat down at the table to eat her breakfast and read the funnies. Nothing got done till the funnies were read. PERIOD. Well there was one that we both really liked, called BC. Just a one panel cartoon, with two figures in it. They always traded remarks with each other. This time the one called the other HOG FACE. Don't remember why. This really tickled the wife, she really liked that remark. I was out back and had decided to clean the kids pool. I took my flip flops off and put them on the patio by the back door. The flip flops were made with a black sole, then a thick bright yellow sponge part then a green surface that your foot set on. The wife came out the back door to say something to me, and saw the flip flops, and got the idea of writing HOG on the back of the left flip flop on the yellow part with a black magic marker. and FACE on the right flip flop.
Yep, that is why my handle is HF. The story goes on. I didn't see the HOG FACE on the back of the flip flops for about 2 weeks. I had been to the store, how many times I don't know, had been to neighbors houses, and we had a patio party where I wore the flip flops. When I saw the HOG FACE, I went into the kitchen and the wife turned around and saw that I had the flip flops in my hands with the words facing her. She started laughing so hard, that I couldn't act like I was upset anymore. When the wife was alive and I would leave a note for her I would always draw a large heart over the note and put HF in the heart. I still use HF today.
Thats my story.
Now lets hear yours.
Life is a trip, ENJOY the ride.
Safe Travels.
Bill

Back in the early days, you needed a CB license. Mine was KBME5075. I still have it, somewhere. A fellow at work chose my handle, Onionhead, which is what he said I looked like. I still have my old Kenwood 23 channel, somewhere. I might put in back in service. Eddie Elk.
