Tim,
I did have two RV to RV conversations while driving back and forth to Florida but, I kind of had my decal covered as I hauled my big trailer with us this trip.
I bounced back and forth between 19 and 13......it was funny because my contact on the way home was a south bound coach telling me I was going the wrong way!! lol
For you guys badmouthing the truckers and their language??.....I had a few really great contacts on 19! The drivers just wanted to know about the coach and what we had in the trailer.....just gabbing to stay awake. I had a lot of fun with the CB on this trip!!! My wife kept saying really??? are you going to talk to all these people all day and night? lol It was a lot of fun!!!

GREAT, glad its working. Being a X OTR trucker I was hoping to hear that they talk to us. I was dis-heartened when there are those that think all truckers are bad new's. They are everywhere.
Can't wait to get mine working...
Have a brand new cobra and not working I think I will need to purchase a cane antenna.
Thanks,
Tim

I see a few have recently asked where to get your "CB13" Decal.
I have them.

Please send $21 to Craig Hanson
888 Tower Rd. Unit N
Mundelein, IL 60060

and tell me which color combo you would like and I will get it out to you the day your check comes in.
Here are your choices.

Great to hear someone got conversation on 13 !!! I finally found a local CB'er for a radio check here in Southern Maryland who lives across the river from my CG, said I am transmitting strong and clear. I get great reception and have enjoyed listening to the locals early morning conversations. I monitor 13 most of the day and late into the night, but have not heard anything except a few Spanish transmissions. I'm using a Cobra 29 LTD Classic and it is really putting out. I am so glad to know when we do get mobile on the road and start our "Great Adventure" that I will be able to reach out and talk to folks. For those who know, my SWR check is less than 1-1. I am very pleased. When I get on the road, If I can meet up with irv2 CB-13 folks I will be glad to use my SWR meter and help them tune their equipment. The more folks we get transmitting "Loud & Clear" the more folks I am hoping we can chat with... So If you're in Southern Maryland heading North or South bound on RT-4, and you are close to Solomonís, give the Bilgerat a shout. If I don't answer on 13 try 30 as that is the local channel, I bounce back and forth quite a bit.

antenna choice for towing

So I am about to pick up a Cobra 29 and am trying to decide on the best antenna setup. I was originally going with a 5' magnetic roof mount, but worried that my TT will block signal to the rear. The antenna probably won't be long enough to clear the top of the TT by much more than a foot.

Is a hood mount fiberglass a better choice? Will it really make a difference since it will be a shorter unit?
