Cell Phone ?

As a CDL holder, I know it is a $2500.00 fine if I am texting and driving and I use a blue tooth headset I bought a few years back after entering into NY and seeing the sign saying no handheld cellphones.

Well, another chart that's wrong or incomplete. WA allows cell phone usage while driving if you have hearing aids, it's not mentioned or even a footnote to the actual law in the chart. Even though I have dual hearing aids and am exempt I don't do it and I carry a copy of the law showing the exemption with me just in case.

So, don't take it for gospel.

Our bluetooth in the radio connects to the cell phone for a hands free advantage. It is not illegal to talk on the phone as long as your hands are on the steering wheel. Feel free to correct me if Im wrong on this.

man now doing 10 years for Vehicular Homicide, causing wreck while texting.

It's not about getting a ticket. If there is a law aginst using a cell phone or not, using one will eventually lead to natural selection.

Youre Choice...... Make it to your destination or be on the Darwin Award list.

Seems that I have one eye. When I tell people younger than 40 that they can reach me on my cell if I'm in my car. I'll listen to the ring and then check who called me when I get to the next store or get back home. They look at me like I have one eye. I never carry the phone with me.

As others have mentioned, I have lived many, many years and never needed to be continuously connected to the rest of the world or jump thru somebody else's hoops to talk to them when THEY felt like talking.

Sorry, but the sight of seeing teenagers texting each other while sitting at the same table answers a lot of troubling questions about today's younger generation.

I have the Blue Tooth for hands free talking. I won't use it as I realized one time when I did use it that I reached my destination and had no idea how I got there. Hands free or not, it's dangerous.

A little trivia about the Nevada state law; if you handle your phone in a construction zone you could face up to six months in jail. GPS units not incorporated into the vehicle are also illegal.

We created an app for that (and about 40+ other state laws that affect us travelers).

If you have an iPhone/iPad, WebOS or Windows Mobile device.. look up 'State Lines'. (Sorry, an Android version is not yet developed.)

We keep on top of cell phone & txting laws, diesel & gas taxes, sales tax rates, buying alcohol in grocery stores, smoking bans, bottle deposits, default speed limits, helmet laws, leash laws, overnighting in rest areas, if state parks include 'day use' fees in the camping fees, towing laws and much more.

As full time RVers ourselves, we created the app to save time in looking all this stuff up all the time.

That is very interesting about having hearing aids exempt you from cell phone
laws in WA. But why, what is it that makes lawmakers think hearing aid
wearers need to use cell phones while driving?
I use 2 hearing aids (thanks to Mr. Howitzer) and I have to take one out to
use a cell phone anytime, otherwise I get a feedback squeal. Have tried
"Hearing Aid Compatable" phones, they don't work, still squeal...



Arizona can't seem to make up it's mind about cell phones and driving.
Recently passed a law that you can't text, but you can still talk on phone.
So how does the cop know if I'm texting or dialing...
