Checklist?

Does anybody have a checklist for Departure And/or Arrival. We're about to take our "Maiden Voyage" in our new to us 37' Diesel Pusher w/a Toad.

I clicked on their checklist link and they just tried to sell me a bunch of books!!

A checklist you may have to develop on your own is a home shutdown list (assuming you're not fulltiming). Very helpful to have one prepared in advance specifying which electric circuits to turn off or leave on, making sure water valves are off, setting up AC thermostats, notifying crime watch, turning off newspapers. Our list helps keep us organized and focused when things get a little busy on departure morning.

I do not have a list and yours may be different anyway but: here are some things I do--it may not be everything and your coach may require more or less.

It is important to have a routine and stay with it; most premature departures I have seen/done have come from violating the routine.

Basically everything on the outside must be in and stowed---electrical, water, cable, sewer. Caps in place on sewer, cable plugs etc.
Tow rig set up and double checked.
Breakaway attached double checked
Braking system set up and doubled checked.
Slide outs in and checked on the outside for fit.
Awning/s in a locked.Anything on the ladder, fastened tight.
Step retracted.
Basement doors locked
Tire pressure checked
Jacks up--fully retracted
Do a walk around and look.

Inside:

Drawers and sliding doors and cabinet doors in and latched
Top vents closed
Furnace/ac off
Refridgerator switched to propane
Stuff off counters, check the ones behind the slide outs
Switch from TV to Radio
Rear camera on---sound off
Door shut and locked (we pull cover over so our dog will not jump up and hit latch--never has but you never know)

After I move a little ways forward I get out and do a final walk around. Check the tow rig--then I go.

I also walk around every time we stop at a rest station or for gas.

I forgot antennea down---use a warning sign to clip to your visor reminding you to retract your antenna---I also use the warning in my drive way to remind me when I am plugged in----you can get these at CW

Oh yes--one more thing---make sure you close your sewer and grey water valves before you disconnect the hose----sounds simple but---------

I just hang my keys from the antenna crank, really hard to forget it that way.

There's an app for that
We use RV Check which is available for iPhone and probably other phones. It may have cost us 99 cents. These are editable checklists. For the arrival and departure groups there are lists for indoor, outdoor, and tow vehicle. We appreciate the great ideas that we probably would have missed and it has served as a good discussion to add and/or think about other responsibilities we could overlook, especially when in a hurry to hit the open road.

Use all the examples give and create your own. What is important to you. The baskcs are the basics, but you may have different procedures for your TOAD hook-up depending on the MFG of you system.

One thing that I did not see mentioned are Lights. Before I put the pedal to the metal, DW does an outside walk around starting on the passenger side. She checks all the bay doors, but more importantly she stops at the drivers side back and I go through a light check. Turn signals. brake lights, tail lights, marker lights, then she walks down the drivers side checking the bay doors and stands in front. We go through the light test again, turn signal, head light (high and low beams) marker lights.

I've been behind to many rigs that did not have proper lights working and it is a stinker to stop when there are no indications of the vehicle in front of you is applying their brakes.

Also, I have to secure a television that I replaced. That is why we are all different. Get the basic checklist from forums and such, but embellish on it to your hearts content. What ever will work for you will be good. The first time you forget to do something, or secure something, you'll add it to your own checklist.

Thanks much, Folks!! The little woman, a friend and I sat down and created a massive checklist based on the info I found here. I'd post it, but it's done in Microsoft Office 2000 Excell and this site apparently doesn't accept this type of file!!

We actually have 3 checklists ...

1) For the house / condo ... stopping paper, draining water heater, ... anti-freeze in traps and toilets ...

2) One for motorhome ... with boxes for load / unload ... clothes, checkbooks, bank statements, tools, prexcriptions ...

3) One for personal stuff ..
