What is the toll now? From 50 cents to a dollar isn't such a big deal.....but from $5 to $10 is HUGE!

WTOP.com - Md. transportation officials propose toll hikes here is the article. Huge but it has been several years since any tolls were hiked.

Note: The title of this thread is wrong!!!

It's not the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (in Virginia), but rather the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, formally called the William Preston Lane Memorial Bridge (in Maryland) that is the subject of the proposed toll increase.

Glad you clarified that because we will be taking Bridge-Tunnel again this fall and last fall it was $26 or $28 for the truck and trailer if that was doubled it would really hurt big time.

Thanks for correcting. Didn't realize you can't edit the titles.

Tolls

If it is approved the toll would go up to $12. in 2012 or 2013. If you are pulling a 2 axle trailer it would be 24.00. They still have hearings on it!!!

When living in El Paso (60 something) we were watching always the ads on TV about the new Chevy Impala. When driving north onetime we took the Bridge ourself. Was great. Hope we can drive it again in a few years. Toll would not play a big role for us at that time. Memory would!

Traveled it Saturday with 42' coach and toad $35.00. Radio antenna scrapes 13'6" tile celing in the tunnel and scared the H_ _ _ out of us. If you don't like TIGHT lanes at 55 mph I wouldn't suggest the tunnel. Every town in Delaware has a speed trap. 1 mph over and they walk out in the street and stop you. 45 mph for 200 miles...thought we would never get out of there.
