Class A, DP Insurance

When we bought our DP we insured the coach on a separate policy with Progressive.

Has anyone ever added their coach to their auto policy? My auto agent can add the coach at a significantly lower premium.

I'm just afraid of the too good to be true price...

Get it in writing and remember, you can only drive one of them at a time. When we checked with our auto carrier, the only draw back was the glass coverage, otherwise they were very close in cost!

Does your Progressive policy have the total replacement premium on it? If it does, that can be deleted to save some $$. That is the largest difference between a motorhime policy and a auto policy. If you have a large balance financed on the coach, it might be wise to keep a total replacement type policy on the coach.

Our friends just had a total loss from fire on their '07 coach and the insurance bought them a replacement coach for $195,000

Make sure the coverages are the same, or if not the same, that they meet your needs. A standard automotive policy is inadequate for RV collision coverages - it will exclude many "house" items from coverage. But if it is an RV specific policy and its cheaper, go for it.

It may just be that your RV policy with Progressive is expensive to begin with. Shop around. We've found National Interstate to have the lowest rates and the best coverage for us, but you mileage may vary.

Many of the auto policy insurers do not have the total replacement cost.
