Class A Motorhome VINs

I'm looking into a coach advertised as a 2006. When I look up the VIN the dealer supplied it shows up as a 2005 Workhorse chassis. Are there different VINs for chassis and coach? I assume it's not uncommon that a coach for a given year was built on a chassis of a previous year?

RV's are often built on a prior year's chassis. Mfr's buy chassis & they can sit at the factory for some time before being brought into production. The year of your RV is what's on the title, which is when the RV mfr built it.

Lori-

P.S. If you're looking into a Workhorse chassis RV, be sure the recalls on it have been done.

That's exactly what you would find with my MH...a 2005 WH chassis under a 2006 Itasca. BTW, 2006 was the year WH first used the 6 speed Allison 1000 transmission instead of the 5 speed. I have the 5 speed because of the chassis year.

Very common for the RV's chassis to be a different "vintage" than the coach.

Although my new (to me) 2004 Itasca was built in 2004 on a 2004 workhorse chassis manufactured in 2004, my previous motorhome (a class C Jamboree) was a 1988 model Jamboree, on a 1987 model Ford chassis that was actually manufactured (by Ford) in late 1986!!! DMV Registration reflected 1988 (matching the RV model, NOT the chassis).

The one thing to keep in mind is the chassis year when purchasing drivetrain parts.
