Anyone looking to by a new motorhome should review the attached link. It makes a good point to go with a class B/C vs a Class A; in regards to front end crashes.

IMO the cab of a B or C has distinct advantages over the front end of an A because of the cage structure.
However the article is written like an informercial and leaves unanswered many questions such as proportions of registered vehicles, trends (year to year comparisons) and drivers ages.

Depends on the quality of the A. I'd put my 40k of weight and massive steel channels, generator, and higher seating position against just about any C or B unit. These blanket statements about one being safer them the other just don't hold up and quite frankly do a disservice to people looking for info on motorhomes.
And this link is full of.......excrement.
Now let the flames begin!

I agree with SteveB2, plus, in my Class A, if I am involved in an accident, I will be the first one there!!

We owned a Class C for +11 years and have now owned a Class A for ~6 years. No doubt in my mind that I am in a safer environment in the Class A. In the Class C you are basically at the same height as everyone else but in the Class A your sitting high. With the Class A your visibility is higher which may provide the opportunity to avoid an accident.
BTW, our class a is on the Roadmaster Chassis which has a full steel cage, very solid.

Having been in a major highway accident with our Class A ($50k in damage to my rig and totaled two other cars), I can assure you that the massive weight and height advantages of the A far outweigh any value that the car-like Class C "cage" may have. Of course, hitting a bridge abutment or another large coach/truck would be a different story, but I don't think the B/C "cage" would survive that either.

Clint Eastwood found a solution in the movie "The Gauntlet". Just need to add some steel plating.

There are way too many variables to consider when making that statement.
While everyone talks about having the motor ahead as a safety factor I have my doubts about it effectiveness. It has more to do with the design of the enclosure than having a 800 lb weight to push back at you.
IMO there is a different standard for the passenger compartment for light duty vans than there is for cars.

I just find the article weak on any facts that could lead to any conclusion other than the sprinter based class B's and C's have same the safety features as a van. Other than that a fairly useless piece of writing.

I doubt their goal was anything more than to sell Sprinter based RV's to people that only gave half their attention to that silly advertisement disguised as a news article.

The link does not even have similar comparison between Class B, C and A. All it shows is the Sprinter does well in one test.

I doubt deriously that when searching for a class A coach that a "crash Test" result is high on the list of concerns. Any more than when purchasing a car. They are built to meet DOT standards just like an automobile is.

As many have stated not all B/C coaches are created equal nor are A's. I had a friend meet his tragic end in a Class A coach, that had mere plywood on a flimsy frame which all collapsed around him. He had a blowout and hit a freeway sign. I say put as much steel between you and whatever you may hit.
