I have a 2002 Newmar Kountry Star with Fiberglass exterior walls. They were badly oxidized when we bought the coach in August. I've been cleaning them...but the trouble is with the rubber trim in between the side walls and the front & back panels. The coach is white, and the trim has black stains on it. I've tried rubber roof cleaner, black streak remover & oxidizer/wax remover.

Any ideas as to what else to use?

When ours got past cleaning I got new, not expensive nor difficult to install. There different sizes and Newmar parts should have it in stock.

Don't you love those black marks, I had the same problem with mine and as you said nothing would remove them then I learned on this forum to try acetone. Being careful to just keep it on the rubber trim and it does work and after cleaning add a coat of wax to the trim and your good to go. Hope this is of some help.... Jim

We had the same problem on our 2002 Itasca. After trying a lot of products with no results my wife suggested Mr Clean Magic Eraser. We were very surprised as it worked great with very little effort and we did not have to worry about damage to other surfaces.

Not sure if it's safe for rubber (you'd have to read the directions), but I used Mari-Kate Shipshape On & Off Hull/Bottom Cleaner on my fiberglass boat to clean the Potomac River scum off the waterline. You just use a small brush to apply it and rinse it off. You can see the brown scum start to melt away as soon as you apply the product. The product is available at West Marine and probably on line with various vendors.

Try using Magic Eraser, as mentioned above, along with whitewall cleaner.

I guess it depends on what the discoloration is, or perhaps how bad it is. I tried all of the above, except the hull/bottom cleaner. Nothing worked.

The only product that has worked for me so far is Scrubbing Bubbles, just foam it down wipe it off. Most times stubborn streaks only require two times to get rid of the streaks. Then a light coat of wax and done. Good luck.
