I was reading more about passport america and what they have to offer and I am really thinking they are a membership worth having along with the new benefits that FMCA has. Will look into the Winnebago club to.

The Escapees membership is $29.95 through Oct 31 as a special in honor of their 35th year.

If you like the FMCA magazine you'll LOVE the Escapees magazine with very little advertising and lots of articles written by RVers. It's very high quality.

You mentioned the parks aren't private. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. No, they're not in secluded areas.

They offer two types of campgrounds. 1)Rainbow Parks are owned by the Escapees. If you purchase a lot in one of them, you own the property. They also offer RV rental sites and boondocking sites. 2) Co-op Parks are lots leased by the Co-op members and the members basically take care of the park. There are also rental sites and boondocking sites available in these parks.

They also publish a book of discount RV parks. These parks have nothing to do with Escapees. They just give a discount like FMCA, Good Sam.

However, the parks are not the only perks of the Club. They have an excellent mail forwarding service which is so large they even have their own zip code and have state of the art equipment. You are given a legal street address, not a P.O. box.

There are also subgroups for special interests like Boondocking, Boomers, Mexican travel, etc. These groups meet up in different places for fun gatherings. We'll be attending the Albuquerque Balloon Festival in a few days with a group of 40 and parked right in front of the balloons.

The Club also puts on a rally and in March it will be in Tucson. Lots of classes to attend and a marketplace. It also puts on a Boot Camp for new RVers.

The Club also has a CARE facility in Texas where you can stay (for a reasonable cost) in your RV to recoup from surgery or illness and still live in your RV. It supplies some nursing, rides to medical appts. or hospitals, a day facility that includes activities and meals. They will also clean your RV and do your laundry while you're recouping.

There are many other excellent benefits of the Club. You need to be active in it to get all of the benefits, companionships, and any kind of help needed. It also has an active forum similar to this.

If you have a tendency to get a little blue around the holidays, stay at a Rainbow park or a Co-op park and you'll feel like you're with family. Good meals, programs, fun!

I feel like a paid employee but we have been members for 18 years and have gotten a lot out of the Club, including lasting friendships. For $29.95 - give it a try for a year!

We have been Good Sam life time members for many years now. Besides the discount at Good Sam Parks, you also get discounts at Camper World,, Fly J Pilot for fuel and in store purchases highways magazine, discounts on insurance etc. Another great feature, there is an app for your phone, iPad, laptop for finding campgrounds. There is also a free trip planner.
We didn't have much luck with passport America, or coast 2coast resorts, seemed like not enough parks where we traveled..
Have used KOA. That really nice same discount as Good Sam on parks. And parks are near main highways.

Thanks for the great discussion, I am a New Yorker, Manhattan and have let my Escapees membership lapse and just recently bought a used motor home and rejoined Escapees. I love the deal at $30, half price.
