If it was a 2006 model, it probably had an IOTA transfer switch. I've had 2 that got hot and melted the breakers inside. There was a recall on them in 2012 if I recall right. I smelled hot plastic and went looking. When I touched the box it was hot, got the cover off and found melting cables.

How fast did the fire consume the coach? Was there plenty of time to get out?

From what I have read and found online, there are battery operated smoke detectors that be connected wirelessly. When one goes off, the others sound the alarm as well.
As I prepare my own coach for camping, I need to replace the original detectors and will be adding extras as well.

I feel the pain. Our 42’ Beaver burnt in our garage. We had just pulled it out, flushed out the antifreeze and filled the water tank.

When I worked in the heavy equipment industry a lot of the equipment was equipped with automatic fire suppression.
If I was going to order a coach I would insist it had an automatic system in the engine bay and the electric/electronics bay.
The cost is well worth it.

It's made by First Alert, battery powered. I think it's a good insurance.

Thank you for a great idea! Definitely worth the cost if ever a problem.

All Alfas came with the IOTA 50 transfer switches, but none has caused a fire to my knowledge. Many have melted down, but the plastic box does not burn. The transfer switch in all Alfas is under the fridge, amidships on the passengers side. Not in the rear. There is no one "electrical bay" on an Alfa. In the rear, you have the power cord and a built-in Surge Guard. These connections should be checked. The engine starting batteries are in the rear on drivers side. The house batteries are in the very front. Transfer switch and all breakers are midship passengers side. Generator is in the front. Since the coach was in a park and not running, the engine is likely ruled out. It would be nice to better define what the owner called "electrical issues". I'd bet on a bad connection in the Surge Guard or simply overheating prongs on the power cord.

Bad connection at plug, Moonsail I kind of think you may have made the right call, AC on maybe coffee pot and electric hot water tank on. lots of current flowing.

Check those refrigerators as well, ours almost burnt to the ground except we were loading it up for a trip when it caught on fire and fortunately had been able to contain it.
Still waiting to get it back However the damage you see in the picture is 23k worth and 4 months in the repair shop. Expect another 20 or so days until we get it back.
There is nothing quick when it comes to insurance companies
