Coachmen MH's

Does anybody know anything about the new coachmen Mirada and Pursuit motorhomes. The older coachmen motorhomes were horrible lots of Delamination and quality issues, but the new models 'Look' good. The Mirada is suppose to have a fiberglass roof (one of the things im looking for) and partial body paint.

They seem to run a bit cheaper than similar entry level coaches and are built using Adzel. I'm just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience and what your thoughts are. Again they 'look' good compared to say a Georgetown or Storm

I do not want to discuss the benefits of a used DP and why you would never own a gasser.

Thanks

IMHO you are correct, Coachman had it's problems with quality. I have seen two Mirada's and they looked far better than the old Coachman.

We bought a Coachman Encounter after having a Gulfstream and Triple E.

I feel that Coachman's new company has really done a big leap forward in making a very deluxe unit and have priced themselves to be lower price. They are very well built. It appears they are offering a lot more for less coin.

The quality throughout, the body, floor design and finishing inside and out
is top notch.

Pick a good dealer and you will be one happy camper!

We have a 2012 Mirada and have been very happy with it. I agree as well that they are well built and well optioned at a lower price point. We have had just 2 issues with the Ford chassis, but 1 was a recall issue taken care of promptly and free and the other was easily corrected by myself with. No major issues with the Coachmen coach at all (hope I don't jinx myself). We are averaging about 6K miles/year for 3 years.

Bought our 2014 Mirada in April - so far we have put ~10,000 miles on it, and about 4,500 pulling the car on a dolly.

Couple of minor fit and finish issues (cracked cabinet door, warped table and chipped counter top all replaced without issue by the dealer). We have been very happy - love the layout. And it drives fine - maiden trip was AZ to MA and back. Its been to TX a couple of times and we're headed out again soon. Only "mechanical" issue (knock on wood) is the on-board water pump acted up on our last trip - intermittent - sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't - coach is now in the shop, hope to get it tomorrow. We really like the coach and after looking around - really liked the price. We feel we got quite a bit for the price on an entry level Class A.

Thanks for the replies. I happened to see one today at a dealer but couldn't stop It looked awsome. If they hold up pretty good I would buy one in a heartbeat. I'm only looking at doing 6-7 long weekends and a trip to FL for a week or so every year. but would like to keep the MH 10-15 years depending on how it holds up. I have seen a few early 2000's coachmens and they all look bad.

I can't speak about the current units but even just a few years ago they didn't seem up to par. Always seemed to be made of cheaper materials and components and seemed to look aged way beyond their year. Lots of delam and lots of yellowed components. Just seemed cheap. I think you get what you pay for.

I have a 2013 Coachmen Mirada 35DL. I have had some issues, mostly with the service writer at the dealership, but a couple things that just not have been allowed to leave the factory in the condition they were in. The factory stood by the product and has fixed every single issue that has come up, some even after the warranty had expired. I am happy with my coach and I use mine a lot. Live it it all summer and have been to Hilton Head and Florida twice in it.

I guess only time will tell for the newer ones. The Mirada is supposed to have a fiberglass roof which I think is half the battle keep and rv from have roof issues. I don't know much about ADzel side walls either.

There's a Coachmen forum on the greater Forest River Forums on another site that might be good to take a look (scroll down and under "motorhomes", it's there).

Forest River Forums - Forest River Owners Community

I have a '13 Encounter, coming up on our 4th camping season with it. No real issues at all (also hoping I don't jinx myself by typing that, LOL!).

Coachmen was bought by Forest River in 2008. They cleaned house over there and are still making incremental changes to improve. Older Coachmens really aren't the same as the newer ones. HOWEVER, the most important thing to keep in mind is that Coachmen is a value brand manufacturer in every product line they produce. Lots of eye candy and upgrades that you can 'see', but cheaper materials underneath as you look closer. That's what keeps the price point very competitive. Not unlike other manufacturers in that class. Certainly not a deal-breaker, but just knowing that up front will help set expectations as you look at other rigs in this class.

Hope this helps and good luck with your search!

We have a 2014 Coachmen Pursuit and could not be happier. We have been out a few times and everything works great. Would recommend them in a heart beat.

Thanks. coachemen is not my first choice but in our price range it could be a strong contender. it appears that you get a lot for your money if you get one that does not have a ton of issues.
