While I'm not old enough to get a golden age pass, my wife does have one and uses it. It confuses alot of the Rangers/attendants when I'm driving but giving them my wifes pass and ID.

What I want to know (And please do NOT tell me) is why you ask that question?

I can think of only one reason for asking. (Well 2 but #2 is way low on the probility list)

Now: As others have said, Sometimes they ask, sometimes they do not. all depends on the volunteer at the gate.

No, you have to show a picture ID to get a discount that is only available to people who meet the eligibility requirements. If you don't want to show an ID and pay full price that is your right. I can't see any issues with that; it's no different than someone asking me to show an ID when I used a Good Sam or KOA discount card (and they have asked).

I have the old paper Golden Access pass for many years. Haven't used it much, guess we need to travel more. Now I'm old enough to get a Golden Age Pass but won't bother. BTW, if you're going to Hawaii, take it with you as they take it there too (as they should). Surprised my wife when we went to Haleakalā and got in for half price.

IT is kind of like the AAA card I used to carry back when first married,, I made sure it was visible whenever I pulled out my wallet,, A few times I got to a ticket window (on our honeymoon) and when I opened the wallet to take out the money, The price went down.

Today I tend to do a bit more research and if the Golden age pass is a benefit, Make the reservation in her name.

I just don't see what the issue is here, what's the big deal. Think of all the times you are asked for your DL for other stupid things and don't think nothing of it. Just show it and let the person at the park feel important. Don't ruin a good thing for everyone else. Jim

I agree. I was just stating what the sign said. I had my park pass and my ID ready when I pulled up to the gate and the ranger thanked me for having it ready. I'd rather it this way than someone cheating with someone else's pass.

You have to show you're ID to buy Beer and Wine don't you? Because they need to check that you're old enough. This pass is no different, you have to meet an age requirement and since there's no name on the card they need to verify you meet the age requirements. Oh, BTW yes I have one.

We LOVE the senior pass and whole system of discount camping for seniors. Don't mind a bit verifying my identity to help preserve this great program. What should happen next is for all State Parks to offer discount camping to ALL seniors....regardless of state residency.
