Cold weather trip in "3-season' 5th wheel.

Left St. Louis, MO Jan. 26th, took I-80 for skiing in the Salt Lake area, then on to Lake Tahoe for more skiing. Before we left, a salesman at the Midwest RV Center in Arnold, MO suggested putting a cup or two of rock salt in the black tank and the two grey tanks. Had below freezing temps, but with a small heater in the basement near the pipes, the only thawing I had to do was for the valve release toward the back end of our 30 ft. Chapparal. Wife's hair dryer did a great job. Spent a month at a great campground in Morro Bay, CA, then skiied some more in Aspen, CO on the way home. Got back March 27th. It was our first, and maybe last, cold weather trip. I'm 77 years young, but the periodic stress level caused by heavy crosswinds, slushy highway conditions and hitching and unhitching in the cold took some of the fun out of it. Grateful for surviving everything, though.

Sounds like you had a pretty good trip. Morro Bay is a great town we try to go once or twice a year. I can only hope to be going as strong as you when I hit 77.

I envy you skiing at 77, I'm 59 and my knees say "no more". Maybe after I get new ones.......
