Garden of the Gods RV Resort was pretty nice but the standard sites are pretty close together premium sites are great. It was within walking distance of all the Manitou Springs shopping and dining district, a couple of miles from Garden of the Gods park, and Pikes Peak is a short drive down the road. There are also a few marijuana dispensaries within walking distance if you are into that.

We stayed at Diamond Campgrounds in Woodland Park. Toad to Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. We found a dirt road (300, IIRC)north through the forest filled with many Elk sightings. Can't remember if the road was through a national forest or a local park but the road took us back toward the CG and was well maintained. Manitou Springs is worthy of a day trip as well.

Diamond CG has FHUs, was wooded, well kept and reasonably priced.

It is a huge state with lots to see and do. Pick a region so we can recommend places in that area.

Sorry I thought you were talking about a trip to Colorado in the Spring and not the Colorado Springs area.

Yes my choice would be Garden of the Gods.

If you have a military or DoD card you can stay at the FamCamp RV Park at the Air Force Academy. Stayed there several times, nice place for only $25 a night.
