Communication when driving help

My wife and I are both a little hard of hearing but not enough to need a hearing aid under normal conditions. But when traveling in the RV with the distance between the seats, the wind noise, and her soft voice, I rarely hear her the first time. I’m a complete novice when it comes to electronics (eg - don’t know what Blue Ray or Blue Tooth means or the difference between them) so I need advice in a very basic form. I notice that motorcyclists have communication devices in their helmets and wondering if there are headset devices the DW and I could use when traveling. Thanks in advance.

If you put on a device encapsulating both ears while driving, I believe you would cause more issues like not being able to hear sounds from the outside of the RV you need to hear, like horns blowing, train whistles, approaching sirens, etc. Sounds like your best bet is either have the DW speak up (easiest cure) or get a hearing aid to use in your right ear while you are traveling. A cheap alternative would be one of the hearing devices sold at hunting supply stores that simply augment sounds (see link below). They are reasonably priced and would probably accomplish what you are looking to do. Get a pair (one for each of you) and I think that would take care of it.

BigDude-

Eartec makes some nice one-sided headsets (links here and here). Reviews seem to say they are worth the money.

These should also be useful when one person is outside helping the other, as when backing into a site.
