Thinking about enrolling in a med evac, coach return plan. Doing due diligence on the different plans out there I know about i.e. GS, FMCA, and Excapees. Have looked into the nonRV-specific plans that "others" offer i.e. Moose, Elks, etc. The costs maybe different for ea. but they all trace back to same underwriter.
Any input would be helpful. Please ref. each plan cost, even if with same membership.

P.S: Not interested in the road side assit. coverage unless its included in Med Evac with membership.

I believe FMCA has added it to their regular membership at no additional charge.

Have looked at that one close. Other then if your home is in a rural area with med center more then 100 miles from airport they may not cover total trip cost. Was wanting to hear from members that had a claim and how it was handled for them. Anyone use another plan ?

We are Canadian Snowbirds.
Our med evac is part and parcel with our travel insurance.
Thankfully we have not had to use either, but are dreading
having to due to the horror stories we hear.

Have you looked at SkyMed? I enrolled at a RV rally about 3 years ago, have never needed it, but it seems to cover a lot, plus I also added international coverage.

Most be very good plan, but at $499 a yr its a bit more then we want to spend for something we may not need. When working in Nigeria with Chevron we had SOS medevac coverage, Which was worth it as the cost in 1998 was $65k for medvac flt to Europe.

Medicare/Tricare worked for us = Black Hills to Mayo, no out of pocket expense.

I too have Medicare/Tricare. But they won't cover getting your coach home...right?

I Have MASA (Medical Air Services Assoication as I recall)
Medical Air Services Association, Air Ambulances - Insurance Alternative

They have a very good sales pitch.. When I joined it was a one time payment. They will cover me in several conditions.

If I am involved in an accident, or sudden illness they will cover whatever my BCBS or Medicare does not .. EVEN if I DO NOT CALL IN ADVANCE (many companies you have to call them and let them call their Pet ambulance) This is called "initial evaucation" by the way.

THey will also cover hospital to hospital if I wish to be flown home

They will hire a professional driver to move the motor home

And if I should die, they will fly the body home... Or. as they did when my wife died.. They paid a family member (ME) to drive both her ashes and the motor home home (Just gasoline but hey... It helped, If I'd have chosen to take public transport back to Detroit they would have driven the house).

I was very impressed with the professionalism and courtesy..

On the way to the URL I visited the Better Business Brueau. Noticed twop things A+ rating and number of complaints (Zero).

Look closely at the coverage map. Some do not cover about half of the Western U.S. That is our favorite part of North America. MASA air says they cover all of North America. I may call them before our next trip, thanks wa8xym!

FMCAssist is included in the price of your membership. $50 firs year and then $40/yr. There are additional benefits to belonging to FMCA such as Michelin tire program, road side assistance program, mail forwarding, etc,

Also, if you have ever belonged to FMCA and dropped because you bought a towable, you can still join as an associate member and reap the same benefits. In fact, if you have ever been a member and no longer own an rv, you can still be an associate member.

Thanks for the heads up. What is annual charge for FMCA Roadside Assist coverage, and Mail forwarding program? Also is there any waiting period for FMCAssist to start covering ?

As Don said, it's include in the FMCA membership at no add'l charge. As far as I know there is no waiting period either.
There is an add'l charge for the mail forwarding.
