CCW is just that. You do not need to know and I will not tell you. If a sworn officer asks me, I will tell him. If he asks for the weapon, I will give it to him. He has that authority.

Otherwise just keep in mind that us are carrying and you do not know which nor do you have that right. That's how it works to keep everyone honest.

If traveling what do you do with your weapon before you cross into Canada ? Would be nice if a local gun shop would hold for the time our of the US.

Before this thread gets shut down, let me say, I am an avid supporter of the 2nd Amendment and as long as it is legal and or the location is not precluded by law, I always carry, but I CCW, I do not broadcast it, or discuss it openly as I feel it is no body else's business. I look up the various state laws every time prior to starting a multi state trip. I do not like open carry as I feel it makes you and if I'm close by, a target, but I support your right to do so if you desire. I would like to see a separate Thread area opened and moderated by a knowledgeable open minded moderator for those of us that wish to discuss RV gun carry. There are RV discussions on gun forums, and no one panics or objects.

When we plan a Canadian trip the weapon is at home locked in my gun safe. I will never take the chance.

I agree with Sky Boss, if it is in my private home or RV then it is my biz.

I understand that if I do not ask you will not tell. So that is the bridge I have to cross.

I'm not sure why you would need to carry a gun to visit your neighbor while out camping. I keep mine locked in a safe in my MH, take it out at night and put it in the cabinet above my head. The whole idea is to keep yourself safe in your home, and trust me it is much better to retreat to the safety of your home(if you can safely) than to start brandishing it in the middle of a campground. The self defense laws are a little more complicated than one would think, and even when you make the right decision to pull the trigger you open yourself to alot of liability...bottom line is if you have a CCW use it wisely and safely, because there are alot of people looking for reasons to take this perk away.

But I can see the point of view of the homeowner.
But it really isn't about knowing if someone is CCW or not.

Just like a homeowner can stipulate no smoking in the house
So too can they stipulate no guns in their house.
They don't need to know if someone is carrying or not but they would need to be clear that no guns are permitted.
Those carrying should react accordingly.

When a friend enters your RV do you ask if they have a cold? If they bring their children do you ask if the children have been vaccinated? If the friends have just returned from a trip and wish to show their pictures do you ask if they were exposed to Giardia? Need I go on?

Amazing how some folks feel so threatened that they have to carry when I have never heard of anyone on ANY of the rv forums I'm on that has ever needed a gun to protect themselves.
I have never felt that I have needed one at any time I have ever been camping anywhere and I have hiked and backpacked a good many miles in the western mountains.
