Hi there folks,
Hey I have a question regarding condensation on the outside and inside my class c. I have my class c gulfstream in my barn while im doing some renovation. I noticed last week that I was getting some condensation on the drivers side of the RV and today noticed some dripping off the ceiling over the cab and in the shower. Any ideas as to why this is happeneing and what I can do about it ??? I cant replace the paneling inside if Im getting condensation.

Hey there CNYRVer,

Your biggest issue is moisture in the air...much easier to control than the temp changes that take place daily.

You have two main choices, "static" moisture reducers, such as, "Drys-air" units that use pellets to attract the moisture and deposit it into a bowl that you dump out every few days. The better choice would be a 110V dehumidifier that has a blower motor and will set the humidity at the level that you choose. A good dehumidifier will run about $150-$200.

For a dollar at the "Dollar Tree" store you can get "Moisture Eliminator". It is a desiccant absorber that will fill with water over a few weeks. Toss it out and put in a new one or 2.

Close every vent and window, small dehumidifier not too expensive, get one

Does this moisture happen any time, either cold or warm outside? Is it the humidity in the air outside? We had a cold front come thru temps dropped @ 25*, thats when all this started...:( Does those moisture illiminator thingies really work?

Hi there fellow travelers,
Thanks for the great info, I think im going to get and run a small dehumidifier and run it 27/7. The issue with closeing every vent and window on the RV will be a problem since Im also going to be replacing the roof this sping and had to take the A/C unit off to get it into my barn due to low ceiling clearence. Sounds like you need circulation inside the barn at the very least I would place a fan or two within the barn and open a vent for circulation. One of a RV's biggest enemy is Moisture. When I first bought my off the show room MH it had a leak in the skylight above the shower That become mold inside the ceiling before it was noticed and made for a very uncomfortable living space until the culprit was found. I small dehumidifier, a container of airdri, keeping the Fantastic fan on 24/7 was not enought to keep up with and ocasional rain until the leak could be located. It will not dry out on it's own.
