Consignment Insurance Coverage

Does anyone have a lead to an insurer willing to cover a private RV for sale on a dealer's lot?

no, no such risk coverage exists because no insurer is willing to 'enter' such a small/niche market, especially since it's not in your 'control' and others are able to walk thru it, possibly test drive it, etc.

but, a larger dealer who really consigns a lot of units may have their primary insurer who provides a secondary endorsement or coverage clause for those units under 'consignment', with special conditions, coverages, owner requirements, etc.

otherwise, unless you are considering it sitting on consignment the same as 'in storage', it's doubtful and has it's risk.

We sold our through PPL (within a month) and our vehicle insurance company just tacked on a rider - very cheap but I don't recall the exact amount.

I don't see why the owner's regular insurance would not cover it if he still has the title.

The comp and collision coverage might cover your interest, but if someone wrecks the RV while on a test drive might not be covered. I would get it in writing if the dealer says that their insurance would cover it. Eddie Elk.
