Contest That I Won

I joined iRV2.com in 2002 and have enjoyed reading the post on here and meeting people at the rallies. This summer Camilla and I decided trying something new. With the cost of fuel to pull our 33 ft. 10,000 lb. travel trailer down the road getting very expensive we purchased a used truck camper to see if we could camp in such a small space. We have only stayed in it 3 days while we were bringing it home from Arkansas where we bought it and so far we like it.
There is an online magazine dedicated to truck campers that I signed up for after we got our TC. They recently had a contest entitled “The Most Amazing Person You Have Met on the Road”. I sent in an entry about Sue and Larry Follas that we met at the 2002 iRV2 national rally and I was one of the four winners. Here is a link to the winner’s stories. http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/winners-announced:-the-most-amazing-person-you%e2%80%99ve-met-on-the-road-contest/
The prize was an autographed book written by John R. Olson entitled “Down Johns Road”. Mr. Olson recreated John Steinbeck’s 1960 trip in his GMC pickup with his dog Charley and a truck camper. The book Mr. Steinbeck wrote about his trip was “Travels with Charley”. I received the book yesterday and am looking forward to reading it.
I just thought some of you might find it interesting enough to get a copy of the book and read it also.

Hi, Bill

Your story at the link is "Meeting Sue and Larry", right?
What a great story
I'm not the least bit surprised that you won a prize...
Are Sue and Larry still members here? It'd be great to hear from them about this...
And IRV2 must be thrilled about the role the site here plays in your wonderful story- the publishers even added a link to this site!

I'll bet there are lots of stories like yours- good for you for putting it down on "paper" for posterity...

Thank you for your kind words. Yes Larry and Sue are still iRV2 members. He is ktp_guy. They were at the 10th anniversary rally last year, which is the last time we saw them. They have been busy this year with purchasing their retirement home in FL. Sue's mother passed away this year also. We are facing the loss of my Father in Law soon, so we have not been traveling much this year. When I saw the contest I just had to tell our story.
