We tow our soft-top Jeep Wrangler behind out motorhome with no issues. i don't think an Oldsmobile top would be any different than a Jeep top. Give it a try!

Hi Ken,

Your question only brings up more questions.

Why would the roof material have anything to do with being towed behind the motorhome? Are you worried about wind turbulence possibly damaging the top?

Best I can remember, the last Olds 88 convertible was produced in the early/mid 1970's. The transmissions used then (TH350 & TH400) were not designed to be flat towed. To me, that is a much bigger issue unless you are putting it on a trailer.

68 olds Delmont 88 w/ th 400. I will use a drive shaft disconnect. I was concerned about wind turbulence to the top.

Other than the usual effects of highway speeds (same as driving), any additional turbulence from the motorhome backwash is totally unpredictable. There is just no way to guess where the eddy currents merge back together behind the coach, or what effect they may have. Probably the biggest risk would be a low-pressure area that literally sucks the top up, but even that is more-or-less normal (it's why you see convertible top ballooning at highway speeds.

So I guess you will just have to give it a try. Have somebody follow you in another car for the first 10-15 miles to watch what happens.

I tow on a dolly a 93 Oldsmobile convertible. Have never had an issue with the top or the car.
