I just drove 1700 mile trip and averaged 6.7 mpg. First leg from DFW to Raton NM was about 5.6 mpg strong headwinds, no genny, around 64-67 mph. Second leg from Raton NM to Denver was about 6.2 mph, no headwinds, no generator running, 64-67 mph. Third leg from Denver to fillup in Lamar, CO., was about 6.8 mpg, slight tailwinds, no genny running, 64-67 mph. Fourth leg from Lakin, KS to DFW was strong tailwinds, no genny and about 7.6 mpg 65-67 mph.
Trip average: 6.687 mpg, 3.47/gallon for fuel, 62 mph.
Clifftall is right and that's a good average.
Mojo, what are you towing? You must be running the genny at full load, and towing max and going against strong headwinds to be getting around 3-4 mpg?
