Covering the Fresh Water Hose with Insulation
Today when i came home i saw that my fresh water hose was laying in the sun, when i turned on the water at the sink it was boiling hot for a bit.
I have some water line insulation tubes, im thinking about covering the fresh water hose with it.
1. It would help keep it cool, when it gets hot it builds up pressure and can damage the hose.
2. It would help protect the hose from punctures. If its laying on gravel and you walk on it, it will damange the hose.
3. It would help keep the hose from drying out. It would block UV rays which can make the hose brittle.
Anyone ever test this theory out and cover their hose?

Maybe just a short section, anything more would make it very large and bulky. Not worth the effort IMHO.

Yeah thats what i was thinking, cover the part that goes from the spout to where the hose is shaded under the trailer, then go from where it goes up the side of the trailer to the ground. Would not be too hard to roll up i dont think and pull ties are cheap so just take it off and put it back on at the next stop.

The pressure increase from the sun/heat is negligible, but it probably would help with the temp at your kitchen faucet.

From experience, fresh water hose will mold inside the insulation. When I removed the insulation from mine, hose was black and slimy.

2006 ----fitting on WH hot out busted while we were asleep.
Water poured out for hours. Wake up to 2" in living room/kitchen and 3 CG sites flooded.
FTng at the time....all in all 2 weeks of repairs and $6000 in costs (thank you for real FTrs Insurance Policy!!!)
Since then no 'city water ' hookup........fill fresh water tank and use pump only. Pump gets turned off at night, when we go outside of RV etc.

I always turn the water off when i leave. Yeah i know it would be better to just use the tank but i was curious about this and it seems to work. Hottest part of the day and the water is cool cool cool. However i didnt consider mold, not a big deal here in the hot west but traveling east could be an issue for sure.

Do you turn cg spigot off when you go to sleep?
When you do for a walk, visit with friendly neighbors?

No, not when i sleep because if there is a leak i can here it and react to it. I dont go for walks because im always in pain and the activity just makes it worse. I stay to myself and dont visit neighbors.
I do what i have to do then i stop, most of the time when i do stuff im in bed most of the next day paying for it.
I just figured it would help save my water pump by using the Site water supply.
