Agree. My Frequent Fueler Advantage card still works as well. I also have the RV Plus card. As I pull up to a Flying J that has RV lanes, I will use the RV lane if there is no line as I get the PFJ .03¢ per gallon discount and then use my PenFed card for an additional 5% discount.

If the RV lanes are crowded then I go to the truck pumps and use my RV Plus card and a .07¢ per gallon discount. In either case I do not have to go inside for any reason.

From the Good Sam Web Site:

Quote:
Why am I seeing a "please see cashier" message at the pump?
When using the Swipe & Save card with your personal debit/credit card, first swipe your debit/credit card at the pump. The pump will prompt you to insert your loyalty card--this is when you use your Swipe & Save Good Sam Club membership card. If you use the Swipe & Save card first, the pump will present a "Please see cashier" message.

yes - dont use them, use regular fuel stations - maybe a little more maneuvering required, but much cheaper prices and easier 'pay at the pump' - and get a WmtCC card and save another 5cents per gallon at Wmt Murphy stations at Wmts.

Wow. If I read this correctly, Virginia has the lowest gas tax. However, the local jurisdictions can add their own taxes :(

Credit Card Denial

If you have a gasser and a Costco AmExp, go to Costco to get your gas. You will save on the lower price at the pump plus the card % back. Also, the DW can run in and restock the pantry with supplies while you fill the tank....

On my last trip I used my Frequent fueler RV card to get pump start but when I went into pay I found it hard to get a charge card or bank card to work. Now you have to notify your charge card people of your trip or they will not allow out of state usage. News to me. So I took time out to notify all my cards and banks and the same problem happen at my next fillup. So since I had plenty of credit cards I simply choose one that would work.

When I got home I ordered the Pilot rvplus card. They require no notification and I can fillup at the RV lanes or Truck lanes without a hassle or restrictions. Also you get a new guide that is easy to use so you can plan your fuel stops. I make frequent route changes so this guide helps.

Just an FYI and may be the solution to the OPs issue
I use a flying J regularly near my home. The pumps now default to try to make people use debit instead of credit when they have that ability. That saves them $$, but it does tie up more of your money in the process, since a credit purchase only dings $10 per fill up (debit dings $75 even if you only use $20).

The screen flashes a brief message (less than a second!) that most people cannot read stating "press enter for credit". If I then press enter when it is trying to get a pin number it will then work on credit like normal and reverts to asking for a zip code. I am sure most are unaware of this trickery they are using and allow a debit transaction; thereby saving them tens of thousands if not millions of dollars a year. My local station pumps an average of 1.5 million gallons a month according to the manager.

Now I use my Good Sam membership card exactly like the old Flying J RV card and my Discover card.

Our Credit Union for years has required us to notify them when we travel out of our designated area for credit card use. Its easy to do, I just call and tell them we are traveling. On our last trip we explored the western states and they unlocked the entire left side of this country for the period of time we would be gone. This is because certain areas of our beautiful country have a higher rate of CC theft than others.

I agree the old RV advantage card still works. Have used it in 15 different states over the last six months without a hitch.

I have had similar problems at some flying J's. Seems that some of the stations differ in the order in which you put your loyalty card and credit card into the machine. Some want the loyalty card first and then the credit card and others vice versa. I have the gas card now and it saves money and hassle.
