Another thought. I also have a garmin 760. Always choose quickest route and not the shortest (shortest will do some strange things like using off/on ramps and city streets. The traffic feature will also route you around traffic delays that have already been cleared and add time. Check Google maps traffic to confirm.

It can be done, but you will be wiped out when you get there. We live in Southern California and almost any trip we take, it's a 500 mile drive to get out of the area and someplace decent to overnight. We don't mind doing it the first day, but for five days it will be brutal.

You may not realize it, but just paying attention to the coach, the ill effects of wind, shifting for hills, passing idiots and being passed by idiots, and constantly steering, will all take it's toll.

You're only going to average 50 mph, so take advantage of days where you can drive a little more in the evening. When you stop, make sure your companions know that you need to just relax and unwind, not deal with other issues.

Keep hydrated. If you are not stopping to pee every couple hours you are working on kidney stones if the deep vein thrombosis or something similar does not kill you first.

When we are doing low mile days on the super slabs we often stop for lunch and a nap. A couple of hours does not seem to be a problem. Prefer Wally or Cracker Barrel for a longer overnight. ;-)

Thanks everyone for the great tips!! We are super excited as we leave this coming Thursday and we are packing her up! We took several suggestions that you wrote here and we really appreciate all the help

We're now going to switch off between staying at Campgrounds and rest stops like Flying J, but the most important thing we realized from this post was just smell the roses and enjoy the trip. If I'm late getting back to work a few days then so be it, I'm been working my butt off since I was 16 and it's time to enjoy family and myself... the wife is running around buying everything for the trip and never seen her so happy, that's all the counts in my book. My only requirement was to have the beer frig full before we leave!

I'll fill you in when we get on the road (slab) for a few laughs!!
