Do I have a Cummins ISB 5.9 or 6.7
Ok I have called freightliner and I am told I have a 5.9 ISB 350. I have been on Cummins on line and confirmed it is ISB 350 but did not confirm 5.9 been on Cummins owners and not much action there. So I looked at all information and cannot see anything on if the 5.9 was made up to 350 hp so I am assuming it is a 6.7 but I am told no by freightliner it is in fact a 5.9 and serial number checks out on Cummins site. Problem is my idle pulley for 6.7 will not line up and it is cutting a groove in the belt. Now I do know that a 2007 was a cross over year and may have caused some indiscrepacys or inconsistencies but I would like to know what I have. So question remains did Cummings make an ISB07 in a 5.9 liter engine or is freightliner wrong in their records. I have confirmed the fact that it is an 07 and is a 350hp in a 09 MH. I know this is common in the various years of assembly

Not sure about yours, but the 5.9 can easily make 350HP

I think the 6.7 was the first to have an EGR.

Can you post the serial number (ESN)?
I can look it up and verify exactly what it is.

Thanks for that, I have that info but your explanation of the EPA helped. I guess freightliner is incorrect with their records. Still doesn't help with getting the correct pulley

There should be a sticker/label on the drivers side of the engine. The info tag. it will say what it is.

Isn't the idler pulley dependent on the installation, i.e. the belt routing established by Freightliner for that chassis? I thought only the main pulley came on the engine?

Maybe, but again if freightliner is not correct with their info that leaves me at square one. I'll look for the data plate. Truck shop having a hard time as well

I presume you called FCCC direct (not a FL dealer) and gave them your chassis VIN so they could identify your specific configuration. Did FCCC identify the correct ESN for your engine? Seems like it would be pretty hard to make a mistake about the engine model, but I suppose it's possible the person on the Help line was inexperienced or just plain made a mistake saying it is a 5.9L rather than the 6.7L.

Yes called freightliner customer center and yes gave correct vin and serial number was told 5.9 asked 3 times. Mistakes do happen. No worries I'll get it figured out. Cummings also sent the wrong belt. Went on Cummins and did confirm the ISB 350.
