As said... LOTS of great advice...
I will only say... no matter what, you'll always KNOW it was damaged and repaired and it will likely bother/eat you up inside... I know it would be me, and I likely would blame everything that subsequently happened, on the "incident"... not sure I would be able to handle that...
No matter how much they discount or what they give you for free... you'll always know..
Again, just my two cents !!

Running into it with what? It makes me think it must be pretty major for them to call you and not just repair if it was something very minor.
I agree, if there is an accident report, or insurance claim by the dealer, I would almost surely walk from the deal, and ask to be compensated for the extra delay. I would think a fair amount would be the cost of renting for the trips I had planned to take in that time frame.
If it really is minor, I'd probably take it but expect there to be very little delay. Hand over no money until it's fixed.

A pickup truck I had years back was hit by an idiot kid driving too fast. He hit my rear wheel. Seemed like minor damage but a gear in the rear end went twice after that. Im sure something was bent ever so slightly that it couldnt be noticed, but the part slightly out of alignment sure found it. As I said before, nothing is ever 100 percent after an accident. If they thought it was bad enough to call you, you should go look at it for sure. Would be a shame if an ongoing problem comes out of it that you are stuck paying for down the road.

The new 2014 coach we had planed to purchase was badly damaged in transit from the dealer's other lot. That killed the deal for us; however, a 2015 was in transit to the Pomona RV show, not yet assigned to the dealer. It was even closer to our original desires. We opted to purchase the in transit rig, sight unseen, and take possession after the show. The deal offered was excellent, in my opinion.
So what do you do? Since purchase, we have had two minor conversations with inanimate objects at RV parks. Both were repaired by a specialized RV Body Shop and the repairs were completed in in short order and are invisible.
If the coach you are expecting is exactly what you really want, I personally would insist that the repair work be completed by a specialized RV Body Shop, with an enclosed paint room, and warrantied for the life of the coach. (or until you hit something else If the damage appears major, like requiring the replacement of the endcap, I think I would walk.

I'm sure very disappointing to you. Also very interesting given a thread on the Class A forum from wyofree (Harry). Sounds identical. One wag even suggested that, given the current hot market, the dealer perhaps sold it to someone else for much more than you contracted for. Tin foil hat time?
Notwithstanding the above, I would want to see the damage in person as one of the posters here suggested.
Best of luck whatever you decide. Just don't give up on the dream!

I would order a new unit and maybe a little more off the price due to the delay.

What to do? Order new one and wait another three months, let them repair the damaged one, or cancel the entire order?
What would you do?

Deep discounts in that case depending on damage. Or hotel it for this summer and get replacement. Big $$$$ means perfection.

I agree, I think we may have scared him off with all the wild speculation. What likely was nothing more than a parking lot "fender bender" has been turned into ghost stories of hidden mechanical problems and future financial disaster due to unsuspected depreciation.
Sometimes I think when newbies ask simple questions on here we often fill them with horror stories of what could happen that they come away thinking that RV'ing was a hobby of nothing more than endless disaster control. Being forewarned is a good thing, but being scared off is something else entirely.

Our '02 DSDP arrived damaged and late. Late due to the driver ignoring instructions to deliver it right away, he drove to a family gathering and stayed a couple days.
The damage was due to running into a tree or something else solid. He claimed it was vandalism but the dealer and I agreed that it was from running into something and hitting the brakes hard as it left a semi-circular gouge through the paint.
Dealer fixed it an all was well for the next 13 years of ownership.

Depends on how extensive the damage is and, in retrospect, how good a deal you got on the coach. This could be taken as a "Get out of Jail Card" if you think you could have done better on the coach with the current dealer, or with another dealer. Also have you since seen a different coach that you like better?
Not too many people have a chance for a Free "Do Over", but you've been handed that opportunity. Think it over!

Thanks for all of your inputs folks; very helpful. As it turns out, we viewed the coach and the damage was quite severe to the front fiberglass. The dealer was very helpful and we decided to order a new coach from the factory rather than repair; no difference in cost and the new model will be a 2018. Too bad about the delay, but a better choice I believe.
