Dark Wood Trend Yuck!

Many RV makers have in the last few years changed from lighter oak/maple/pine cabinetry to a dark, red cherry wood. Dark wood reminds me of a lawyer's office, funeral power or library. I don't understand why dark and dingy is supposed to represent the outdoors. Frankly, I hate the dark wood color and would never consider getting anything but golden brown cabinetry. Jayco, IMO, ruined their whole line going dark. Evergreen is another recently to go dark. Anyone else loathe the dark wood trend?

That wood look makes me think I'm in some old camper.

I have always loved the wood that is stained white. In the boats I ran it always made everything bright and cheery.

The new Fleetwood Excursion DPs can be had with white cabinets. I like it!

My MH is a medium Oak. We just like the looks.

The really dark wood just made the MH look too dark.

To each their own.

My grand Pappy used to say "there is a butt for every seat"

I really don't care for the white "Ikea" look and I have great distaste for the " I puked a Latte' all over my coach" cream interiors.

That being said, If everyone liked the same thing we would all be driving a Prius and living in a cracker box development.

I love my warm dark woods and rich leathers. It feels cozy to me.

I'm with you. I had the lighter wood. Time for dark and warm, with bright furniture and walls.

I just like the medium dark wood. I also do not care for the white, and found the dark cherry a little too dark.

Like you said to each their own.

Just like homes, trends come and go. In our house we lean toward darker woods with light walls ... in a motorhome we prefer lighter colors everywhere primarily due to the lower light level from the relatively small windows.

Just preference, like the medium wood colors. Brings a warmth to the coach. Don't care for the white look. IMHO, don't need to wake up any quicker than I do in the mornings.

Appreciate the feedback. Definitely a subjective call on this. Only problem for me is that the color wood I like is becoming scarce. Just want some good choices. I think I just need to look around more. Golden brown cabinetry must still be out there. Koala still has it, but it's a more cheaply-built trailer. My favorite brand, Jayco, went all dark. No other choices. Oh well...

We just purchased our new 37Ls Outlaw - we had an option of Cherry or Vintage Maple. We picked The maple. We wanted the lighter colors.
