Dealer buy

I came across a deal to good to be true( I think). Has anyone heard of Walters travel trailer, their out of Ohio, near Toledo.
They will ship the coach to me for 7 days to inspect and try out. We keep in money in escrow for that time limit then I either say yes or before the 7th day say no.
Anyone heard of something like this? The price of the coach is half what everyone else is asking!! I did run a vin # check Nd it came back negative for accidents and a clear title.
This is my second post😀 I read almost everything here because RVing is new to us and I don't want to end in bad place.

What escrow service do they want to use? If they say PayPal be aware that PayPal doesn't do escrow at all.
Sounds an awful lot like the scams we see.

5 BBB complaints filed, one not responded to.

They didn't say. But I was going to ask the CC to look into it also. See if they would even do something like that. But talking.g about a lot of money to us.

Sounds too good to be true, and those are the ones you need to worry about. You didn't say what you are buying, how much ect. But when buying something like this I would want to see it in person before I even consider giving anybody any money. Once your money is in "Escrow" you really no longer have control over it, and who really knows who this "Escrow" company is.

People will travel however far necessary to check out a MH/RV to see it in person before buying. There are a lot of things to check out especially when buying used. When spending this much money I would highly recommend doing that. Also buying an RV is not like buying a new car, you need to have the insurance coverage prior to taking possession or you are not covered. It is not automatic coverage for a period of time like a car. There is also the half the price issue, when buying an RV you get what you pay for. That's not saying you can't get a great deal but if this is your first RV I would definitely err on the side of caution. There are a lot of unscrupulous people out there.

Must be different with different insurance companies or maybe your state of residence. We bought our Magna on the way to AZ, verified that we didn't need to get different insurance for 30 days. Just told them the info, and how much we paid, but the price they gave us was very high. So I shopped for insurance at the Good Sam rally in Phoenix that we went to.

Well I don't know but I checked with some other Insurance companies and they gave us the same info. We have State Farm and everything we own is insured by them. They ended up giving us the best price, but they did say that it is a common mistake people make when buying an RV and they think they are insured when they are not. Our dealer also asked for a binder prior to us taking possession as he too told us it had to be insured prior to taking possession. It would be different if you traded in a MH that was insured, as they did tell us that if we traded in a MH then it would automatically be covered as we were replacing a like vehicle.

Don't even consider it. If you do, just say bye bye to any money you give them.

I would not have anything to do with them.

Shipping a RV is very expensive and nobody is going to do that.

I suggest you look elsewhere.

That's what we did, traded in our very nice 2002 Dutch Star on the Magna and now wish we hadn't done it!! Not that the Magna is a bad unit, it's fantastic, but it's cost us several 10's of thousands in repairs that we didn't figure on!

Something just doesn't pass the smell test. I've always believed in the old adage "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." I can't find a valid website for them. Interesting that the BBB says they have been in business since 1991. I'd tread very very carefully if it were me. Sounds like a really easy way to lose some money real quick.

If you are really interested in that particular coach, either go inspect it yourself, or hire a RV specialist to go inspect it for you. A mobile RV repair guy that is within and hour of that location would probably charge around $300-ish to take a look at it for you.

....and who does not have a website these days???? that is really odd
