Dealer service
On this forum I just found out about a recall on my 2016 bullet. When I purchased the TT from a dealer 4hrs away. They said they were owned by a dealer near me and that I could get warranty service done near me if needed. Today I called my local dealer to see about scheduling an appointment. I was told even though both dealers are owned by the same company I have to go back to the original dealer. 4 hours away through mountain passes that will soon have snow. They then told me to call my selling dealer to have the work authorized and maybe they can work on it otherwise I maybe on the hook for extra costs. Extra costs???!!! It's a recall, I'm not asking for them to add winterizing. Oh boy I'm super frustrated.

Unbelievable. When we had a 5er, the factory would never take on the Dealer for refusing service because you didn't buy there. Instead they would call around to try and find another Dealer that would do it. What a pain. Not sure why the factory was afraid to step on a Dealer's toes -

By being a factory authorized sales and repair center they are obligated to do warranty repairs no matter where the camper was sold. It is part of there agreement with the manufacturer. Having said that that location may not be the authorized dealer and is only selling the brand from their lot. Either way I would make sure they know they would never be getting any of my money in the future.

I suggest to any owner to shop for a dealer first and then shop for the RV. Dealerships are simply not all created equal.
And although this dealership shares ownership with another location 4 hours away, they're not the kind of dealership you want to deal with if they're unwilling to do service work by you.
I'm sorry, but I'd be calling the dealer principal to get his feedback. Chances are he'll change the decision requiring all the driving.

Not true in the RV world. Cars yes, but not RV's

Greatest way to build a "repore" with a local shop. Tell them you will never spend any money in their place of business. If I was the business, I would ban you from stepping foot in my business. I have found I can get more flies with sugar than salt.

I found out the hard way that it's VERY difficult to get a dealer to service something in warranty that they didn't sell!

Talk to the stealership where purchaxed, reminding them of the commit they made. Failing thete, talk to the manufacturer as they may authorize the work at some other venue closet to you.

With the same owner as you state I would talk to both dealerships but up the food chain. Same owners got your dollars just different lot, salesman. I would not see the problem as I say up the food chain.

So this morning I was purchasing a cover from a guy with passport that was recalled for the same reason as my bullet. I called his dealer. They had no issue with doing the recall work. They asked where I purchased it. Entered me as a new customer and scheduled my date and time to come by.
