Not True, I have a CRV and it cannot be put on a dolly. With most AWD vehicles you cannot turn one set of wheels while the other set are stationary.

Death wobbles are common on lifted trucks and/or giant sized tires. Off road repair should be able to fix if that's problem.

Our death wobble on a wrangler was solved by replacing steering stabilizer and all front bushings. Wrangler was lifted, oversize tires, and ten years old. Seems a bit early for yours to be having wear issues. I agree with others on looking for an off-road shop. I don't know if it applies to your situation, but it know smaller jeeps are very sensitive to toe in toe out alignment issues and it takes a good alignment person to know how to set them up properly.

I had the death wobble issue on my '97 Wrangler. It had no lift and original size tires on it. I cured it by replacing ALL the bushings in the front suspension and the ball joints. My Jeep had over 150,000 miles on it at the time, so it was due. Yours doesn't seem to be old enough to need that much work, but I don't know how it's been treated. Front tire balance is also a big contributor to the problem. Get them as perfect as you can, not just "good enough".

Jeeps are serious 4x4's compared to CRV's. The transfer case has a neutral.

As mentioned, a dealer should fix a 2014.

Hey Mike, I hope Karen is doing well through all of this.

There was some very lengthy post here on IRV2 with a person having the same scary problem. I will see if I can find some of his posts. I don't know if he found the answer or not but he was experiencing the same problems.

Thanks for the help. We now know this is Jeep's problem. A dangerous one!
Will be calling the corporation again tomorrow, and ditching the jeep.

I would think looking at wheel alignment would be first. Some vehicles do this with too little toe in. In Drag cars you would run as little toe as you could before wobble,less scrub go faster.
Steering dampener would be next thing I would look at. Not sure if the Jeep has a factory one or not ?
Lastly as has been said before I would look at weight on front axle,i.e. is the Coach pulling up as wells forward ?
Hope you get it fixed I am sure is it unsettling to say the least.

I cannot attest as to whether the 2014 Cherokee can be towed on a dolly but it should be clearly described in the owners manual. In my case, with my 2003 Wrangler Rubicon, it clearly states that the only way it can be towed is with all 4 wheels on the ground.

Regarding the death wobble, as mentioned above do a wheel alignment checking the camber, caster and toe in. Also, check for something loose. In my case it was a worn out tie rod end.

Karen, regardless of what you may have read I'm not sure this a Jeep problem.

I have a Jeep Cherokee that I have towed for 10,000 + miles, at one point at 70 mph, and have never had a problem with it not tracking just fine behind the coach. I see a lot of Cherokees being towed, so if the 'death wobble' that affected many Wranglers was as prevalent on the Cherokees, I think we would be hearing more complaints.

Now a couple of caveats; I did have the alignment checked prior to taking delivery of the Jeep (it was fine, no adjustment necessary). I also self installed the towing brackets. This was the first vehicle I had installed the two individual tab type brackets to, all my others were one piece baseplates, so I made sure they were installed correctly, and geometrically in line with the tow bar.

What I mean by that is, with the Jeep connected to the coach tow bar, I measured the distance from the center line of each tab to the center line of my tow bar. I then took it for a trial drive to make sure it was tracking correctly. This was all done prior to reinstalling the fascia, which is not fun to remove or reinstall.

So here are my suggestions.
1. Have the alignment on the Jeep checked
2. Check the geometry of the tow bar tabs on the Jeep to the tow bar on the coach.

If those two steps check out then there may in fact be something wrong with your particular Cherokee.
