Well we took the plunge and purchased a used 5er. It is actually in pretty decent condition. One of the little problems it has is the logo on the nose piece has peeled off from sun exposure and left a residue of sorts . It does not wash off with soap and water. anyone have a clue as to what would be the best method to remove this? Thanks !!

Try some WD40.

3m has a product called
general purpose ashesive removal
i have used it for years to remove glue left from decals
you can fine at auto parts store

if you don't have wd40 try goop off. both work well

An old rag or shop towel dampened with gasoline worked well for me. I know, I know, its flammable.

Hey, I've used XYLENE. Just don't smoke within a mile. It also dries your skin ALOT! But, it did help take the Diamond Shield off the front of the RV. Wicked stuff but does the job.

Thanks guys , I have some goof off , not sure if its the same but I am going to give that a try along with some wd-40 also .

Try Goof Off and Goo Gone, but I'm not optimistic either one can remove old, dried on adhesives. I'd try mineral spirits (instead of gasoline) and if necessary laquer thinner or acetone or MEK solvent, but all of those last three can soften fiberglass and remove paint quite easily if you aren't very careful. Use sparingly and wipe up immediately.

X 2! That is what most auto-body shops use around here. They also use it to loosen trim strips prior to repairing crash damage.

Would that 3M remover be able to loosen/ remove old decal stripes that are many years old cracked and nasty!? Not just residue but most of the decal stripe is still there.

Will keep the other suggestions in mind, also one of those hard rubber decal/pin striping removal wheels may be given a go to. Just haven't decided what to replace it with either new decal or just mask off and spray a new stripe.

Heh, xylene is used for prepping EPDM roof repairs and polyurethane to metal applications and such. Anyways, I know quite a few guys that always have a lit cigarrette hanging off their mouth while pouring xylene out of a gas can and wiping it with a rag and such. Sooo, the good news is that its not that easy to catch in flames while using xylene.
