Decals

Has anyone ever used a spray clear coat over the rigs decals? If so does it help or doesn't make any difference!

I doubt that many have done this. I would think that there might be an adhesion problem with a clear coat on a plastic decal. That said, although most clear coats offer some UV protection, it probably wouldn't be substantial.

I have heard of those with degraded decals removing them with the aid of heat and then replacing them with painted graphics...time and effort consuming job. Good luck.

The previous owner of my rig did that sort of thing. Some dark brown decals were removed and re-painted on. The rest of the decals I suppose were still in pretty good shape or maybe it was too costly to do the whole thing so they were left on the coach. The entire coach was then clear coated including over original painted areas plus the new dark brown re-painted graphics and over the top of all of the remaining decals. It looked pretty good when I got it but a couple years later the clear coat over the decals had flaked off badly in some places and where it didn't flake off the decals still discolored and cracked underneath the clear coat. The original paint and the new dark brown paint still look great with no clear coat failures. I can't say how long ago the clear coat was put on the decals but I can tell you it was the first place it failed and when it started to go it went pretty fast. I just got done removing the rest of the decals then re-painting them and clear coating. It would have been much better to do it all at one time.
