Decisions, decisions
Long time lurker and admirer of the setups on here, but it is time for me to wade in and seek some advice and opinions. My lovely bride and I retired about a year ago and are looking at our dream, an RV for our 3 labs, 2 ATVs and camping in this great country.
We have a stock 2015 Chevy 3500 Dually to pull/haul with and had just about set our sites on a 5th wheel toyhauler like the Seismic, Momentum, or Fuzion. We are blessed to have such a dilemma indeed. We mainly want to be able to camp in the national forests in the campgrounds that I am finding on Google and gov websites. Most of these seem to have no electric, sewer, or water so the above mentioned seemed perfect. Then I started noticing the length limits on most and there went the air from my balloon.
We are now looking more at TTs like the GD Reflection 315RLTS for our dream. The plan is to carry the 2 ATVs above the truck bed on the Diamond cover I have on there.
My question I guess is this, for the camping we want to do, is the TT actually going to be a better fit or plan?
Thanks in advance for all advice!

Depends on what you want. Are you looking for a hauler with a dedicated garage? If so then you will probably be to long to fit in the places you may want to go. If you get a hauler without the dedicated garage then you have many options.

If you are looking at boon docking, why are you looking at camp grounds? Many of the areas, at least in the west, that have areas for ATVing are also perfect spots to find a meadow to set up in and camp.

Thanks for the info, being ignorant to what is out there and how to take advantage of it is part of the problem for us. I have been mapping out those campgrounds around lakes, rivers, or streams and had not really given thought to open spaces like that.

When it comes to hauling toys you basically have 2 options and they come in both TT and 5er. First is what you have already looked at in the Momentum which is a garage area separated by a wall from your living area. The other option is like this, Rubicon RV Toy Haulers where your living area and garage are one in the same. Basically your living area items fold up, lift up or moved depending on if you are moving or camped. Obviously haulers with separated garages will be longer then ones with combined area.
Of course as you said you can alway stack the ATV's on your bed. Just watch your combined weight.

Trade the wife and keep the dogs.
Ooops, sorry. Wrong thread.
As was said. It all depends on what you want to accomplish and how. Not sure of what size ATVs you have, but one solution I have seen to shorten the length of a TH is to park one ATV on the raised bed and pull the other underneath. This will require a slight bit of modifications including using 4x4 posts to support the top one during travel. That would allow the use of the 5er TH and shorten the overall length.

We've got a 700 and a 500, both Polaris. What has us tilting a little towards the TT is the length and living area. What has us hesitating with it is small tanks: black, grey, and fresh.

Have you thought about getting rid of the truck, getting a shorter Class A Motorhome, and towing the ATV's in a trailer?
Some of the people I know with a MH have a trailer that holds 2 Harley's and a car. The tanks would be larger also.
Just wondered and that way the dogs could lady on the couch and floor while you are driving around the roads.
Board of Land Management has many boon docking lands. State parks can also.

There are also Class A toyhaulers. So many choices. Definitely would be nice for the dogs to be with their owners in the MH.

There are a few TTs out there with bigger than standard tanks. Toyhaulers will often have a very large fresh (100 gal) tank but not necessarily large grey tanks to go along with it.
Rear kitchen floor plans will often (but not always!) have two grey tanks which can extend your time away from hookups considerably.
With a TT you won't have a hitch to deal with if you want to move the ATVs around with the truck while you're camped...

We had a 42 toyhauler. While we never camped in National Parks we did camp in older campgrounds which had limited space. Some were tight but was able to get into all of them. If unable to get in there will be an alternative location close enough to still enjoy the area.
IMO the prime directive is to get a living area you enjoy. Finding places to park it will be secondary.

What part of the country are you planning on camping in? It makes a difference.

Man thanks for all the replies, dang good info to digest!
The 4-legged babies will be in the truck when on the road, got a crew cab for that reason.
Mostly looking at Colorado, Wyoming, Utah to start.
Did not know about the different layouts for the kitchen having more grey capacity.
