Can I test them with a Battery tester which pull on them to determine condition?

Absolutely. Real bettery shops use a tester that gives a CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) reading. It actually puts a load on them and then tests..

Time for home work the two best sources for information are Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ, Battery Manufacturers and Brand Names List, and which tells you who makes what battery among other things and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ
An BTW Concord/Lifeline makes theirs in the US. I went with a Lifeline AGM because it is the most trouble free and one of the best made.
