Looks like a mixed bag. You get one guy quoting the new mantra and seem to have the old timers doing business as usual. Hopefully the old timers will win and maintain what made Fantastic so great.

Yep, But I had to jump through hoops for that. Not the same company since atwood bought them.

I called them back in March as mine quit working. After a few minutes of troubleshooting, they said they'll send me the parts right away, which they did. I just paid $10 shipping.

While over-the-top customer service and/or free replacement parts are surely appreciated, the fact that Atwood kept up the same superior quality product is more important to me.

As long as the quality is maintained, and you can get a real person to talk to if problems occur, or parts are needed, I'd gladly pay for the parts if it came to that.

I also got new lift motors for my two 12-yr-old fans six months ago and only needed to pay shipping. When I posted that fact I was told that shipping always used to be free. Since then from reading other posts I've noticed that the shipping cost issue seems to vary depending on who handles the call. I can't complain about a company that provides free parts for out-of-warranty products even if I did get charged $10.

Shipping is expensive and does take up some labor time. I have no problem paying shipping.

It could have been worse. They could have been bought up by Norcold, Dometic or HWH who won't even talk to you on the phone. I've dealt with Atwood in the past and they were pretty good. On a LOT of the rear roof ladders they have a plastic insert that holds the rungs in place on each side. They get old and break. Atwood sent me ten for free and said I would have to buy the next bunch. Ten did the trick.

Boy,, I'm not sure what to do... At what seems a cost of $150 to replace one of my "Fan-Tastic" vent fans,, I can sure see why you would want to replace parts... I've already replaced one of 3 outer covers, 1 more needs it, but mainly the front vent of 3 has a bad on-off rev switch. We use these roof vents everytime we're out camping, so guess I'll give them a call... This on a 1995 MH.
PS, can anybody post the number to call for sevice/parts ? Thanks !

I see that the Fantastic Vent factory in Michigan is being closed and that production will move to an Atwood plant in Elkhart, IN. I suspect a lot of current employees won't be moving, which may mean poorer customer service in the future, even if policies don't change.

Will just have to wait and see.

My thermostat went bad on one of my fans, about 5 months ago. When I called they sent me a new one at no cost to me.

It appears that Atwood didn't actually buy Fantastic, they bought the assets, which in this case consisted of the name, reputation, and product line. This is a fairly common situation when the acquiring company doesn't want to deal with legacy financial and personnel issues.

My understanding is that Fantastic had been privately held and that the founder had died. It appears that his heirs decided to take the money and run (to the bank), leaving the employees twisting in the wind. No surprise, that's the American way.
