Just purchased a 2009 American Heritage.
A friend noticed mold starting under the Diamond Shield.
Does anyone know the warranty on this product, have heard none, 5 years, 25 years??

Is it best just to remove it?
Expect paint damage??

George, give these people a call Auto Paint Protection Film, Clear Bras | Diamond Shield Clear Protective Film and see what they say to do.

To get mold you need moisture,if it something along the edge you can use alcohol to clean. I am pretty sure there will be paint damage during removal. I would call diamond shield direct they were helpful when I had mine replace.

Hi ghhmtnboy,
My personal experience is once the discoloration starts it will continue. There is nothing anyone can do about it. The reasons for the discoloration are numerous and really do not matter. The bottom line is the Diamond Shield (DS) will need to be removed. Yes, it is most likely some paint damage will occur.

FWIW, in the same situation as you, I:
1. removed the DS.
2. had the front of the coach repainted (paint and clear coat only, no DS).
3. had a bra made and use it instead of DS.

My experience with DS is that it is overrated. I will not voluntarily have it again.

If you get to Florida, Alliance Coach in Wildwood will remove the Diamond Shield for about $500. Less than the cost of a bra.

The Ds was designed to keep the look of the front your coach looking nice without the monstrosity(My Opinion)of lexan attached to it. I have not seen plastic that does not yellow and crack with time. I have seen the mold ghhmtnboy is talking about. I guess I'd rather take my chances with a bare front end than either choice. My coach has the DS on it but I'll let it stay until the mold starts or we tade it.

I do not have DS.
Seems like quite a pain, long term, paint damage and all that stuff.

So far, 1 chip in 13000 miles.
If I keep this rig for 100,000 miles I'll have about 8 chips. Or if real unlucky, maybe 16.

Experience marks are not shameful, ya know? I have a few of my own!

Thanks tp everyone that has replied, coach is still in 'pre-delivery' stage at dealer, will call Diamond Shield and speak to our dealer service rep this morning.

My protective shield on my Coach is 12 years old, no yellowing, fading, front of Coach looks new. I don't have mold behind it and I will never have to pay to have it removed and the front of my Coach repainted due to the damage from the diamond shield. I do not have that kind of money and I like my monstrosity of a front end. Sounds like you have a lot of money, so yes just trade it when it gets chipped up.......

I'm thinking that if my non DS front gets unsightly I will just put a bra on it.

My Dutch Star had Diamond Shield and it got mold or something that looked like mold under it. Out of warranty, and Diamond Shield wanted $1,200 to remove and no guarantees on damaging the paint. I removed it successfully myself, but a lot of time and tedious work. No repainting required.
